All players wearing armor look the same, regardless of what skin they might have set for themselves. This can make team sports or battles confusing among other problems.
What if there was a simple in game way of creating a slight visual difference between armored players?
I suggest adding a new item slot, the color slot. It would be a slot in your inventory that only accepts a single piece of wool of any color.
When this slot is filled any armor you wear would have additional detailing superimposed onto it, in the color of whatever wool you placed in that slot
Helmet - A band of color circles the helmet at brow level
Chestplate - Colored lines at the sleeve, a colored vertical line running down the back of the armor, a colored square chest sigil in the front and center.
Leggings - Colored curved lines mark where the front and back of the knees are.
Boots - Colored laces
These lines would be thin for the most part, and would not hide what type of armor you're wearing. Diamond armor would still be mostly blue. Leather still mostly brown. But now you'd be able to look at another player and instantly tell if they're on team Green or Purple or whatever other color.
You'd be able to change your armor's detailing at any time just by placing a different color of wool in the slot. Or leave it empty to have armor look just the way it does now.
I'd like it more like use dye's instead but good idea!
Just using dye could also work. But I figured that using wool explains how players can put it on and off; it's just strips of thread or cloth added to their armor as decoration.
