If that's what the enderdragon drops, then it should be the way out.
My idea of what should happen:
Place the egg, and it should begin smoking. 3-4 minutes later, a tiny enderdragon will come out.
It will grab you, bring you high up, and then a screen will say 'Leaving the End..." like it does when traveling from Nether to overworld.
You will then pop up at the room which the portal is located, and the enderdragon will be red. It will follow you, and would eventually grow bigger once time is given. It would then be ridden by a saddle, but would have a 'tired' meter and would need to be fed gold nuggets in order to gain its energy back. Not feeding it would be fine, but there would be no riding, and the dragon would do no attacks to any other mobs.
It would have 25 hearts when first hatched, and 50 when it grows to the size you can ride.
Good, but Notch already said that ridable dragons will not be added, because on an SMP server, well, imagine having a citadel with super-high walls that was impossible to breach normally. Then you just fly in on a dragon and smash everything. Here's my idea for enderdragon eggs- The most awesome thing ever, an Ender OmeletWell, and if ender omelets are added, why not add endercake!
Enderdragon eggs.
