With all the new ideas for enchantments, and spells, why not have smelting? I mean, not like making it into an ingot, but having two spaces in a furnace instead of one? this would allow a much greater variety of metals, and allow a much wider range of awesome weapons. Just a suggestion, but please, consider.
Probably an easier way to do this for modders would be to combine the ores in a crafting table, then smelt that. For example, craft copper ore with tin ore to get bronze ore. Smelt bronze ore for bronze ingots. This would also allow different ratios of ore, for example, to make steel ore, craft 3 iron ores with 6 pieces of coal.

No, Steel would require you to use an anvil, so 10 ron is an anvil, and you take the iron ingot, use it on the anvil, Make steel, it would break blocks 1.5 times faster than iron, and have twice the durability.

A great idea, and a possible alternative, but i am looking for this to get into the full version, because modding is a pain in the a**. I would also enjoy seeing a block come straight out the oven (furnace), because ingots tend to be useful, but only one tracked, and you cannot build with them. and are they stack able? I'm not completely sure. And this is not as realistic, (yes, yes, i know, Minecraft isn't realistic) so it wouldn't have a full effect. Science Project! Steel block on top of iron. nothing. Steel block on top of iron in your 100000 degree oven, Alloy!!

Okay Tezz, its probably a good explanation, but you lost me. Explain?
