I think Notch should add movable chests: ex- you want to make your house wider, and for that to happen, you must move your chests over to the wall. This would be much easier to do if you could just pick up the chests without breaking them. Instead of putting them in your inventory, there would be an animation of your character holding the chests with both of his/her hands. You would walk slower, so you couldn't bring it wherever you go (mining, exploring, ect; that would be cheating.)
I also love to farm in Minecraft. What do you guys think, in addition to finding watermelon and pumpkin seeds in abandon mine shafts, you would also occasionally find a pear tree or peach tree sapling. Once you planted the tree, pears/peaches would sometimes hang slightly off of the tree and you could pick them off and eat them for 1-2 hunger? Maybe apple trees? I don't know. Feel free to tell me what you think! :smile.gif:
That is easier said then done because the items in the chest add extra data values to the chest that is why they made sure pistons couldn't push chests.

there is like 9 letters u need to change in the code to make chests movable..
I definitely agree of the farming idea. The chest one too because it's such a pain to move them all especially if you have them all over your house like I do.
it's oke but chests can be put in a minecart so it's a moving one
True but that requires it to be broken and crafted into a minecart. And once it is it can't be crafted back, which means no double chests nad in order for it to be placed anywhere it has to be on rails.
It would be much easier to just make them movable via pistons, it worked fine in the original mod.

in that way it would be nice to move them. but i don't see why you would want to move the chests.
There are a few reasons. A lot of thieving goes on in multiplayer, so using pistons to conceal chests can come in handy. You can also build some pretty cool stuff with this if you are handy with redstone.
It's not so much about an actual use as it is about it being handy to have and harmless to add.
