how about keys for doors and trapdoors but each key would have to be unique and would only work for an individual door, and poison arrows ,made by combining potions with arrows.
How would we obtain the keys? What would be locked away behind these doors and trapdoors? How would we know which key is for which door? How would we make poison for the poison arrows? What would they do differently to normal arrows?
they would have the same effects as negative splash potions, just another way of firing them. and the keys would lock doors simple, multiplayer maps you would have more of a dungeon experience. idk but it wouldnt be a bad idea. and you could make keys with sticks and stone i guess. ps the keys could have different tooltips and so could doors.
1) This is currently a wishlist as it describes multiple different suggestions in the same thread. Please fix this at your earliest convenience.
2) Door keys would be utterly useless as players would either break the ground under the door, break the wall beside the door, or create locked doors to grief other players. (This is why Search was invented)
3) Poison arrows would be an easy griefing agent as well. A new player joins the server and it plucked by a stray poison arrow, he dies upon entry. Great going.
4) Poison arrows would be useless as well since arrows can be fired readily enough that any long-term damage from poison would be negligible compared to arrow spam.
5) EDIT. USE THE EDIT BUTTON! Since it was 2 posts, I was able to read your original message and your response. However I, and most others I'm sure, will not spend 5+ minutes of our time skimming a topic for your multiple correspondence. Edit your original post as well.
6) How about detail? Any? At all?

If your server has that bad of a giefing problem it's time to find to find a new server.

Mind over matter. If you don't mind it doesn't matter.
I don't play on a server. If I did, it would be private and locally hosted.
Also your point is irrelevant as it doesn't explain the negative consequence by placing these tools into random hands. You're simply telling people to go elsewhere (this solves nothing).
I would appreciate it if you could create a compelling argument in favor of this suggestion instead of making wild assumptions about the state of other players.
All things considered: You did not answer points 1, 2,4,5, or 6. On 3, you threw a baseless assumption which does not solve or even target the problem but instead asks other player to avoid it.
whats the point of iron bars if you can just dig under or around them, the point of it would be for adventure maps and maybe in strongholds. Also poison arrows would be helpful because it means you might have to attack a mob once, leave it for a few minutes and then it will die savjng you the time of taking mobs one at a time
Also, the point of iron bars is aesthetic appeal. What's the point of glass panes? They are not meant to keep people out/in, they are meant to add that spooky aesthetic quality to the game.
Again, why would I want to endanger myself by attacking a mob only once and letting it beat on me while it's slowly dying? Kill the ***** and move on! Due to that, poison will help negligibly toward the kill and its primary use would devalue to simply griefing other players.
I don't think the door keys are a good idea, because there are too many reasons not to add it, such as locking yourself somewhere, knowing which key is for which door etc. But the poison arrows are a good idea, considering the brewing in 1.9. You could put a bottle of poison and a arrow on a crafting table and it would make 4 poison arrows. And the poison could do the same effect of the cave spider! Good idea! for you!
