With the addition of gold nuggets in 1.9, I feel like there could be some gold rush era themed things such as panning for gold in a river.
I think that it would be fun if you could make a pan of some sorts and go into a river and "pan" for gold nuggets that are flowing through the river. This could open up the possibility of many other things also such as filters that let water through but stop gold and other materials that flow through the water like dirt and gravel. The gold nuggets would be pretty rare when they flowed through the water though, but if you found some, maybe it could be a hint that there is a "gold mine" nearby. I think that gold rush era themed things would fit well in the survival aspect of Minecraft.
Minecraft has officially left realistic and abnormally true to prehistory survival and moved on to magic and dragons... Good idea though! :biggrin.gif:

Exactly, I liked it before when it was survival, this magic stuff I think is kinda ruining minecraft and if we added stuff like this, it could bring back the original minecraft which was about survival, not magical unicorns and dragons.

Minecraft is still about survival. It just has some mythical things now.

Lately all the updates have been magical stuff, not very much survival stuff though, thus making Minecraft turn into more of a fantasy game lately.
It's been a Survival-Sandbox game set in a Fantasy setting with Schizo Technology ever since TNT and Mobs have been introduced. Most of the stuff added was for Endgame players, since the only thing to do after you found a bit of Diamonds was to go to the Nether, and you know how boring the Nether is pre-1.9.
I like this idea. If nets are implemented, they should probably have durability and be susceptable to Mob attacks. I've not bothered with the 1.9 pre-realease, so I don't know what use gold nuggets are and can't reliably add to your suggestion about rarity, though you're probably right.
As for crafting a 'pan'? How about three iron ingots in a 'v' shape, much like crafting a wooden bowl. Or perhaps two ingots and bars at the bottom (to symbolise the mesh)
Haha! That's early mornings, long work shifts, too much whisky, late nights and abject stupidity for you! (Yup, I'll admit it.)
Two ingots and bars, though... that's feasible, right?
Yeah I like the idea of pans being crafted from iron and iron bars. Also gold nuggets have only two points in 1.9 and that is to make "golden" glistening watermelon and if you put nine in a crafting table it makes one gold ingot. The only stupid thing about them is that you get them from zombie pigmen, seriously? Why them, so I thought making it flow through streams seems more reasonable then a zombie pigmen having gold nuggets as blood.

I'm open to more suggestions about this aswell.

*facepalm*That's how to craft a bucket
