In minecraft when you start a new world i was thinking that a new type of mode would be an adventure mode (how it would tern out and or look):
when you enter the world you start out with basic fighting equipment and a small house with a guild master in it (inspired by the kingdom mod) for when you gather enough resources you could upgrade to a new teir 1-10 and as you increase your house you will be able to start a kingdom and gain respect over your people also as you rank up you get better armor and weapons (also tools)(shovels pickaxe etc.)
other suggestion:
You would start out with basic evrything (wood and leather) then as you adventure forth you would find many dungens alot more than there is now and they would be alot bigger and the harder the challange the better the loot so it whould go like leather iron and so forth and in adventure mode there is no food bar but also no peaceful there is alot less resources than is servival mode (less trees and stuff) and whene you got all the way to diamond you had to go to the nether and fight epic battles to save minecraftia (and this would rely be ongoing to a sertain degree)(like when you killed the dark emperor)
This doesn't really seem like an adventure mode. This is more of just a kingdom mode. An adventure mode would support adventure, not the creation of cities/kingdoms. You would need dungeons, abandoned mines, and other stuff to explore.

The plan from what I read on the Wiki is to have an adventure mode, and also capture the flag (or maybe there the same thing) you should take a look on there.
