I was playing on the Serenity server a couple of minutes ago walking through a forest and I thought: All i hear is footsteps. there is nothing in the Minecraft world to hear and identify on the surface. (Not including Monsters) To me, Notch seems to be too focused on adding inhabitants rather than the habitat itself.
Wilderness: Maybe he could add sounds of waving trees and tall grass brushing against the ground from the wind. And maybe add one or two types of birds to make soft chirping noises in the distance. And when you walk near a cliff. Small rocks will fall and make crumbing noises near your feet. Caves: Make the soft sound of wind bouncing through the hollow walls and faint water drops along the edges of overhanging tunnels. And if there is a monster in the distance, say 25 blocks, your would hear a faint noise traveling though cave. If you have played Amnesia before, you would know what i am talking about.
How do you guys like this idea. I know there has to be a mod for this but I mean what if notch actually added these things. How would you like it?
Here is an awesome example of the surface world ambience. Thanks, Justin17!
