Soul Stone is usually found either in combination with veins of Soul Sand, or on small islands in large lakes of lava along with Netherrack.
Like Netherrack, fire on Soul Stone burns infinitely.
Soul Stone can only be successfully harvested with a pickaxe and takes exactly the same time as stone.
Mining it with anything else takes the same time as it does with a wooden pickaxe, so you can still destroy it relatively quickly if needed. However, when mined this way, it doesn't drop anything and, if it was on top of another block, leaves behind fire on that block.
Connecting Soul Stone to an active power source "activates" it, causing the "eyes" on its texture to glow:
After being continuously powered for several seconds, the Soul Stone block breaks, again leaving behind fire if there was another block under it.
Soul Stone, in addition to providing a very spooky block for decoration, can be used in a variety of traps with redstone wiring.
Soul Water
Possible texture: A nearly opaque, white (very light gray), animated version of Soul Sand's texture.
Soul Water is a liquid (surprise!), and very similar to water in many ways; but with several key differences.
The first of these is obviously that it can generate and flow in the Nether.
The next key property is that instead of pushing things away in the direction it flows, it pulls them in in the opposite direction. (The animated texture of flowing Soul Water also "flows" inwards.)
You can swim in Soul Water no problem, but your air drains 1.5x as quickly. Also, Soul Water pushes you up instead of down and holding space makes you to sink instead of rise (so you can still dive down).
Soul Water doesn't put you out if you're on fire, and will not put out actual fire either; instead flowing around it.
Like water and lava colliding, Soul Water colliding with either water or lava makes blocks.
- Soul Water colliding with a lava source block creates obsidian.
- A Soul Water source block colliding with water or flowing lava creates Soul Stone.
- All other combinations - which can be reused infinitely - create Netherrack.
Soul Water can be collected with a bucket.
Soul Water can make "automatic" elevators. Your limited air would limit the height, but that can be gotten around as such:
It can also be used to collect items or even mobs, since it pulls them all together to its source block.
Shadow Crystal
Possible texture:
Shadow Crystal is found in the same kinds of ground and ceiling formations as Glowstone. However, unlike Glowstone, which provides light, Shadow Crystal darkens the surrounding area, with the immediate surrounding area being light level 2.
This would work essentially the same as light, but in reverse. (Light level increases by 1 for each block of distance; areas that are already darker aren't lit up; etc.) It would also take priority over any light sources trying to light up blocks it's darkening.
Shadow Crystal's mining properties are identical to those of Glowstone, and it drops 2-4 Shadow Dust when mined with a pickaxe. 4 pieces of Shadow Dust can be combined into a Shadow Crystal block.
A Shadow Torch can be made with a stick and 1 piece of Shadow Dust. It works the same as the block, but is less powerful; it darkens the block it occupies to light level 5.
