I think that Notch should add anvils to the game, and a smithy system. It just feels weird to me how you can put an iron ore into a furnace and then it pops out as a full iron bar. I think a system where you need to cook the ore, hammer it out, and then cook it again to get a bar of steel would be good. I'm probably not going to get a lot of support for this, but honestly i think this would be cool.
I like it, you've got my support for sure. :biggrin.gif:

Huh. So i guess i'm not the only one who thinks that would be cool. I came up with this idea after seeing the forge building in the npc villages and how the anvil was just two half blocks placed on top of each other that didn't do anything.
Maybe not added in the game by Notch, but maybe made into a mod. That way the people who want that can have it, and the ones who don't, don't have to deal with it.
i agree. it seems too easy and makes me get bored faster with minecraft. i also think it would be a cool idea to add a smiith feature for making weapons. they should have a wepons craft block or something.
It just seems like a waste of time. I mean, now you pop the iron ores into the furnace and you can do whatever you want when they're cooking.
But with this, this you have to go back to there when they're done and then wait for them to be hammered out. Then you have to cook it again. It's just a huge waste of precious time I could be using to fight mobs with my new iron armor and iron sword.
Edit for those suggesting steel: Why do we need more metals and more armor and more tools? Isn't the 5 we have now enough for you? Are the tools and armor in the game really that weak in your opinion?
Yes. And if you read what other people said, you would know that the idea that you use and anvil on iron to turn it into steel. Look before you post next time please.
I like the addition of adding more functions. Most mods add "more things to do", but using an anvil is not "harsh" on gameplay.
I was thinking, "smelt in the furnace", "pull out molten iron", then here you have to put it into a cooling pad which turns the molten iron into bars, then to "craft items out of iron, you must hammer it on an anvil." Just what, I, thought. :laugh.gif:

[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.

Okay, it's just that you said that it would be from iron ore to iron.
