The End is a new dimension coming in the 1.9 update. It contains a whole bunch of endermen, the rare ender-dragons, massive obsidian columns and a whole lot of "white stone". But that's all obvious, right? So what else can we expect from it? Well if we are to compare it to the only other dimension there is, the Nether, then there is some overlap. Surprisingly, (if the nether is anything to go by) mobs in the End are completely on par. 1 new, dangerous, flying mob and a large population of already rare mobs that can be found in the over world (Pig Zombies CAN be found in the over world) neither of them have any new drops. However, when it comes to blocks, there is a lot to be desired. The nether added 3 new, highly useful blocks; Netherrack- able to stay on fire forever, Glowstone- powerful lightsource and Soulsand- mob slowing effects/half step. So far the End only has "white stone" white effectively does nothing. I have some ideas on what the white stone should be able to do, and what the other 2 blocks will be.
White Stone- gives off a faint (4 light level) glow the same color as moonlight, pacifies normal (non ender) mobs in it's presence, can substitute for cobblestone in crafting and furnace
Crying Obsidian- found in the centermost layers of the obsidian columns, acts as a teleportation waypoint when powered and will send out to the nearest piece of unpowered Crying Obsidian in a 16 chunk radius
Darkstone Ore- can be smelted into a Darkstone Ingot and then crafter (with 4 ingots) into a Darkstone Block, causes a light level of -4 to the sourounding area
