Well with all the tweeking going on for the "above ground" biome system, and the introduction of Nether ruins, I got to thinking: Should the Nether have its own biomes as well?
Here are a few ideas for the biomes populating the Nether:
-Magma ocean/lake-
A massive ocean of lava blocks, like a standard ocean above ground. Probably it would have an increased Ghast spawn rate (considering they're imune to fire damage and look rather like jellyfish.... it made sense to me).
-New land-
Composed of a very thin (1 or 2 blocks) thick layer of netherrack over a layer of lava, with "smoke stacks" on occasion full of lava blocks, or open holes into the lake or caverns below.
-Glowstone cavern-
A cavern lined with outcroppings of glowstone, on roof, floor and walls, probably quite rare.
-Soulsand plane-
A "subteranian desert" of sorts which consists primarily of soulsand, making traversing it extremely dangrous and slow going.
-Netherwart fields-
A strange jungle/brushland like formation, making travel hard, and likely hiding a good number of mobs. (as it's "lush" by the Nether's standards)
-Nether fortress-
A much larger version of nether ruins, ie: the thing those odd "bridges" are or at one time connected to.

Any other ideas? Opinions?
That could be pretty terrifying.
