I absolutely love Mushroom Biomes, and feel they don't get as many mobs as they should.
Now, I like to think of mushroom biomes as a sort of infection (Oh no you have released a killer fungus among us!), an assumption I made when I saw mooshrooms were just normal cows with mushrooms covering them. With this in mind I thought "Hey, why not infect a few other animals?". I wrote down these suggestions:
Truffles: Pigs covered with brown mushrooms, they drop brown mushrooms if sheared (like mooshrooms and red mushrooms), 1-3 pork when killed. They also have a chance of dropping a special mushroom that can be eaten to relieve 3 hunger, with a chance of food poisoning.
Moldies: Creepers:Grass Moldies:Mycelium. A creeper with purple, stringy skin. Moldies have a less potent explosion, but when it DOES explode it releases mycelium, which then infects grass for 1 ingame day.
Spores: About the size of a small slime, spores have a chance of popping out of mushroom blocks, at which point they will immediately target the player, hit them once, then die. When they die they poison you for a few seconds.
The Roots: A mini-boss battle, The Roots are...well, the roots of the mushrooms! They all converge into a small [human]heart-like shape, which will call Moldies and Spores out to try and stop you from killing it. When it does die it's juice can be harvested to coat weapons and armor in, which will make them able to [SLOWLY] regenerate to a certain point.
Well, what do you think?

over all good idea
but... I don't believe mushroom have "roots" they are called Feet....
Dislike the first two, like the other two.
Truffles just sounds like Mooshrooms, only smaller.
"Moldies" just seem like Creepers to me. It seems better to fight off our green mortal enemies then it does purple copies of them.
The Roots would be a nice addition, if you got rid of the armor coat drop. Why does everyone need stronger armor? Is iron that hard to find, that people need self-repairing armor, or ways to repair armor?

Maybe the mushroom biomes cause you to slowly suffocate unless you craft the appropriate gear. And the water would shrink away, harden into mushroom water, and/or spread to the main land, where it will VERY slowly infect the land, unless the land is weakened from previous infections or from farming and being walked on. You'd know when it was walked on a lot, as the grass would die permanganate, and the block would turn into a dirt block with a damage value of 1, one that could not grow back grass or be used to farm.
People, stay on topic. This is discussing additions to a somewhat bland biome, and if you don't like it, then don't post.
I feel like mushrooms have already been ruthlessly extended. What other food has its own counterpart, tree, biome, and mob not to mention it dwells all over the nether too.

Red mushrooms are fairly rare, according to my past experiences. The mushroom biome is EXTREMELY rare, mushroom growth has been severely nerfed, it's food cannot be stacked, and the nether needs more of an update before I construct a second portal. I guess I could use the nether as additional storage, but that's it.

This is a signature. I have literally nothing to put in it.
If you're a small map maker, send me a PM and if it's good enough I'll advertise it in my sig.

Maybe if you're still in 1.8 but in 1.9 pre 4 I find both types of mushroom all over the place. I think they should keep all the mushroom stuff the way it is now but adding more would be going overboard.
Not only that but if you get one of each type and 2 bonemeal that's a TON more.

+1 :smile.gif:
My full chests (plural) of iron and gold disagree.

Starting a new world is slow (unless you find that one seed that spawns you in a village).
I could most likely take on EVERY mob in the first night, and I'd love to be able to get some armor from it.
Oh god, I'm getting off topic. Back on topic, I guess.
