In MC, there are a number of different vehicles. Two, to be exact. One of them is a boat. A boat made out of wood.
The other is a minecart.
Now, you might say, "Hey, one for land, one for sea! And we don't really need one for air!" Look at the topic title. Now back at this piece of crap text. Again. Again.
I'm not suggesting airplanes.
I'm suggesting a car. Oh yeah.
You see, minecarts don't really suffice as land transportation, while boats are the exact opposite. Trees are everywhere. But Iron isn't. So I suggest a car, with the body of a boat, and some stone for the wheels. Then there's a furnace, to burn coal, and therefore propelling you forward.
Sort of like a land-boat.
It sounds similar to a minecart, yes, but look at what you need to build the 'car'- stone and wood. And fuel to propell you forward. It'll suffice for land exploration.
How would it go up the 1 block ledges? It would look dumb just magically popping above it. I think the only way better land transportation that makes sense at all in MineCraft other than walking would be using an animal. Maybe a horse, maybe breed two pigs and have the offspring tameable and then controllable while using a saddle.
