Dyes in Minecraft are fairly useless. All they do is dye wool unless you're using bonemeal, which is more of a utility than a dye. Why not use them as potion ingredients? The premise is simple. Each main color has a use; wwhen combined with other colors it allows for compromised, new, or mixed effects. This has been suggested before, most likely, but it needs an in-depth mention.
Here is a list of what they could do.
Rose Red-Being commonly found in roses, it should have a relatively minor effect. A rose red potion will be called a "Reflex" potion and will slightly boost running, mining, swimming, ladder climbing, and walking speed. It is only slightly.
Dandelion Yellow-Dandelion Yellow will make the player glide when they sprint and jump. Called the "Lofty" potion.
Lapis-Allows underwater breathing. Called "Aqua" Potion.
Cactus Green-Allows for any mobs around the player to be slowed down. Called "Aura" potion.
Bonemeal-Allows for faster plant growth around the player and a chance to produce more yields when farming melons/pumpkins/wheat/etc. Called "Nature" Potion.
Ink Sac-Allows for much faster swimming. Called "Shark" potion.
Cocoa-Current health is doubled. Called the "Durable" potion.
Pink-This prevents fall damage for a long period of time. Called the "Light" potion.
Orange-This allows any tools to mine any material at a fixed rate; a gold hoe and iron pickaxe will cut through stone in the same time as with anything else with this potion, though you will not get the drop unless a pickaxe is used. Called the "Royal" potion.
Light Gray-Allows the player to move faster than one would run when sneaking without the hunger cost. Called the "Predator" potion.
Dark Gray-Makes the player invisible except when running or attacking/mining. Called the "Stealth" potion.
Cyan-Makes the player twice as big when in appropriate areas. Health and damage are doubled, speed is slowed. Called the "Mass" potion. NOTE:When Fermented Spider Eye is the base, this will actually shrink you, which can be useful in some circumstance. Health/damage dealt is halfed but you run and jump faster and higher.
Purple-Doubles the experience gained from mobs and increases the max drop by one. Called the "Luck" potion.
Lime-The player can sneak through most blocks. Called the "Ghost" potion.
Magenta-Player jumps much higher. Called the "Light" potion.
Light Blue-Player can fly over very short periods. Called the "Flight" potion.
I tried to orient these materials with the more common ones providing lesser boosts and the ones requiring more effort having better effects. Lapis, in particular as a nonrenwable resource, provides the better boosts. None of them are too gamebreaking without a downside or without requiring extensive ingredients beforehand. Keep in mind that, to brew these, one must have access to a brewing stand, which requires a lucky trip to the nether, and thenmany resources at their disposal. Nothing is insanely powerful here to be called gamebreaking.
I've put a lot of thought into these;if you have your own ideas, please do share.

I have no use for any of my dyes, so this would be perfect. I don't want to have to dig hours and hours and battle zombies and skeletons just for some stupid blue wool.
