I bought Minecraft back in May this year, and I greatly enjoyed the way terrain formed. It was almost random, but structured at the same time. I liked how the initial spawn point was on sand, normally right next to a body of water. Trees were not packed too closely, mountains were abundant, and most resources could be found without walking a great distance. I was disappointed by 1.8's new terrain generation, and some of my friends are too. All of the biomes were far to expansive and uniform. You were either in a densely packed forest/swamp, or a barren plain/desert. On occasion, you might be in a mountain biome, if you were lucky.
So I propose that the classic terrain generation used from about Beta 1.2 through 1.7 be included as an option in future versions of Minecraft. Those who want the classic TG can have that option, and those that want the new TG can have that too.
I like that idea. It would be especially helpful for experiencing all the old seeds. (Glacier, anyone?)
If Notch doesn't add it, maybe someone could make a mod with it.

That's my hope. More options can never be a bad thing in my opinion.
