I like the biomes, I really do, but... They're just so bland. There's only 3 types of trees? Every biome has the same grass colour except for tundra and swamp? What is this?
My suggestion is that every biome has more distinction. The grass colour should be more defined in some biomes (for example, plains should have yellower grass) and every biome should have its own special MOB that only spawns in that biome, as well as a certain plant that can be grown and harvested.
Mixed forests: This one can stay as it is, but it should have a new MOB, perhaps Boars. Boars are like pigs, except they will fight back when attacked, doing 1 heart of damage. When killed, they will drop porkchops as well as bones (because of their tusks.) Apple trees should spawn in this biome. Their leaves will drop apples and apple tree saplings.
Pine forests: Wolves need to be more common in this biome, because I barely ever see any wolves in minecraft... did Notch remove them? In this biome, berries should spawn in berry bushes, which are 1 block big and will drop 1-3 berries when destroyed. You can craft a berry on a crafting grid to make a berry seed and grow berry bushes, but player grown berry bushes must be grown near water. Bears will also spawn in the pine forests. They are passive-aggressive, but at night they will attack. When killed, they will drop fur and Teeth, which can be crafted 3 in a row to make a bone, or used as arrow heads. Fur is basically leather with a different texture, and is usable like wool and for crafting armour of the same tier as leather.
Swampland: In this biome, there needs to be crocodiles or alligators. They are aggressive but easy to kill, and are like zombies that are in the water. When killed they drop teeth, and scales, which can be used in potions as an item that gives defense.
Extreme Hills: This biome is basically mountains for those that don't know. I think that goats should spawn in extreme hill biomes. They are milkable like cows, and they will fight you if attacked or milked. However though, instead of doing damage, they will ram into you and knock you back 5 blocks. After they have attacked you once, they will go back to wandering about. When killed, they will drop hair (which is just like fur) and horns, which can be crushed into horn powder and used in potions. They will also drop goat's eye, an ingredient used in potions.
Desert: This biome doesn't even have any MOBs, so having some would make it very interesting. There could be 1 block tall and 10 block long sand worms, which are passive-aggressive and will crawl around on sand, then eventually crawl back into a sand block. They are quite powerful and will do 10 hearts of damage to you if you attack them, but if you kill them they will drop 10 string and 10 teeth, as well as some poison, which is usable in potions and on arrows. In this biome there should also be snakes, who will attack at night and will drop poison and teeth when killed.
Plains: This biome is pretty dull. It should have more wheat growing, yellower grass, and a new MOB that spawns here: Moose. Moose will drop moose meat and Antlers, which can be mounted on walls. There will also be horses, which can be saddled and then ridden for faster travel. You can kill horses and get some leather, but it isn't a good idea.
Ocean: Now this biome could use ALOT of improving. There should be sharks that are like the alligators I mentioned awhile ago. Notch said sharks would be bad because they will always attack, but Notch could make them passive aggressive and only attack without provocation at night. When you kill a shark, it will drop teeth. ALSO, squids need to drop Tentacles, which can be used in potions and also cooked and eaten. Sharks will wander around eating squids. On the bottom of the ocean, there should be Coral and seaweed. Seaweed can be eaten raw, but for a small amount of food, and seaweed is also a potion ingredient. Coral is like stone, and comes in pink, yellow, green, and blue colours.
Tundra: This biome will have polar bears, which will basically be white bears that drop white fur, and on the icey areas there will be Penguins. Penguins waddle around and sometimes swim around, and when killed they drop Penguin eggs (which function like chicken eggs) and raw fish.
**The Mushroom Island doesn't need to be changed :tongue.gif:
And I have a suggestion that isn't related to biomes, but it is close: There needs to be palm trees! Their wood is similiar to fences and can be crafted into planks, but you cannot make fences by putting palmtree wood close to eachother. Their leaves will drop palm tree saplings and drop coconuts when destroyed. Palm trees will spawn on sand that is close enough to both grass and water.
Great ideas! I'd honestly love to see these added to Minecraft.
Ocean Biome Suggestions: As you said; there should be sharks that are passive during day and hostile during the night and squid should drop tentacles which you can eat. I also agree with coral and seaweed. One thing I would love to see added is actual fish. When Notch introduced fishing to Minecraft he said he would add fish into the water later on but I guess he's never gotten around to it. The fish would swim around and when a shark is near they will swim away (squid should also swim away from sharks). Expanding on your idea of coral and seaweed, I think seaweed should only really be found randomly on it's own. As for coral, I think Notch should introduce coral reeves. In the coral reeves you would be able to find sea sponge which is already in the game but just can't be found naturally. You should also be able to find various kinds of coral as you said and other underwater flora. In these areas would also be an increased amount of fish, squid and sharks.
Mushroom biome has a grey-like coloured grass. The swamp trees are technically different types of trees. You also completely ignored the point that desserts are VERY different. Sure more mobs for specific biomes would be nice but one specific new mob for every single one, it adds way too many items. Last I think I should mention that grass colours vary greatly if you just pay attention to it a bit, they naturally change in random areas so it isn't all the same.
Yes, I do like some of your suggestions but you're asking for a lot all at once.
-I like the crocodile/ alligator idea... A bit. It sounds difficult for it to work well.
-The mountain goats could be an interesting addition.
-penguins would be neat but I don't think very practical.
-The yellow grass in plains is a good idea to me.
-The wolves do need to be more common, I barely see them anymore...
-Wheat growing in plains doesn't seem like a good fit at all.
-I really don't like the desert mob ideas, just my opinion. NPC villages spawn in desserts a lot so that's good with me.
-Sharks are "iffy" but I'll stick with no for now.
-I also dislike all the new mob drops you added in but honestly I don't like the whole potion crap Notch added.

For everything else I really don't care for.
I don't really care about whether the animals are useful or not, and neither did Notch: for example, he added a MOB that only drops ink sacs which are only used for wool :angry.gif: :sad.gif:
Wheat grows naturally in plains in real life, which is why I suggested it
NPC villages are eventually getting their own biome
Yes, deserts are very different. They're also very empty and boring. And creepers are comparable to cactus men, they're both green and have the facial expression. :tongue.gif:
I like the potions that Notch added, they're really complicated but its a cool system. The only thing I don't like is that you'll have to know how to brew them in PVP if you want to do well
I agree that wolves are very rare. I've only seen one, while screwing around in creative mode. I also think wolves should travel in packs, and the whole group will fight back if one is one is attacked by the player.
I have a suggestion about the mountain biome, why aren't there snow covered peaks? I would love to have the mountains large enough to have some snow on top, as well as having pine trees in the lower altitudes of them as well, good suggestions, a worthwhile post.

How about cactus men in deserts (there is another thread for those).
I don't think mooses would have a point.
Sharks should be neutral, only attack when you get to close.
But other than that its perfect.
