I don't know about how everyone else can deal with these tiny poisonous spiders that spawn now in hordes in under ground strongholds and mineshafts, but they're just about the cheapest way to die now it seems in minecraft. They fly at you from just about any direction, sometimes right on top of your head out of no where and bite you. Once they bite you, you get dropped down to no health and then start seizuring out, jumping and flailing about while other spiders start coming in and basically give you the finishing blow.
It is the most obnoxious thing to deal with. I'm all for new challenges, but I've found the endermen to be not only more of a fair challenge but also something that doesn't just simply make you loose control of your character and most of the time utterly helpless.
Can Mojang please change the mechanics of these spiders? Add bats if they want to create a mob that flys at you from any direction, I could deal with that, not with these jumpy little things that drop you down to one friggin health.
I can still handle the small poisonous spiders because I usually flood the area they're in(since the water pushes them back) so I have enough time to hack at them and the spawner but it is irritating how much damage the poison does and the fact that they only have to touch you once that you do get poisoned. From what I know it takes about 5 or more hearts of damage, I wish it was more like 2 or 3 :/
What was that thing about Enderman? I didn't get that xD
Edit: The reason I say that the poison damage is a lot is because the fire guys in the nether only burn you for about 2-3. Imagine if they did the same amount with fire?
Bucket of water sounds like a good idea, didn't think of that. By the endermen argument I was saying that they don't make you loose control of your character, which is my biggest gripe.
The thing about venom is that it can't actually kill you, just get you to half a heart (so don't fall or get hit by a non-venomous spider or other mob).

Before I used the water bucket idea it was like this:
Run in, attack one spider, get poisoned, run back, wait for hp to come back up, another spider spawns.. :/
Then I started building walls to block them off and since this started as a mining journey I had a bucket of water for lava and badabing!
btw when I fight enderman I walk backwards in a circle and attack them while jumping. Since I do this they can't attack me from behind and the jumping causes criticals and damages them so much that they can't do the last bs teleport out of the area. The 'lose control' thing hasn't happened to me yet xD

I envy your smugness, surely.
