This may have been suggested before, but whatever..
I just had an idea for a multiplayer gamemode called versus, and it should be a lot like left 4 dead's versus mode.
There are two teams: Humans and Monsters.
The human team builds in the day, and at night they fight the monster team (zombies, creepers, spiders, creepers). Humans have a few minutes to build and will automatically spawn with an item set (a stack of cobble, some tools, some meat) and build a fortress upon those items. Once a human dies, he/she are permanently dead for the rest of the round. And players on the monster team will spawn as a random monster. Once all the humans are dead, the round restarts.
So what your suggesting in plain survival mode only you don't spawn.
he's suggesting that you're one of the monsters, going against human players. Or you're a human going against player mobs.
AS for the idea. It could be a good idea. Fun, and challanging, because players can do more than run into a wall. one thing is how the attacks work. When you're a zombie, I assume it's left click swing arms. Skele's are current bow mechanics, spiders are left click does a pounce (climbing could be the sneak key, and run into a wall)creepers would be hold left, boom. Slimes (would they be playable) wouldn't have an attack, run into the enemy is enough. Spider Jockeys could be interesting, possibly two players, or one player and an AI mob. Endermen? That could be interesting, because you would freeze if someone looked at you, and then you could attack stuff and teleport. Those are just some ideas to help grow the idea.

You can't make metre cubed pieces of rock get jiggy with each other, that's just WRONG.
