While I know this is getting out on a limb and maybe even a bit.. much..
Anyone who's played Legend of Mana might remember the making golems bit.. and now we can make snow golems.
I thought these could be combined .. so you could create golems of different blocks like.. a wood golem or a iron (block) golem - and based on the material you used would give the golem more or less hearts.. For ores you'd need to use the block versions so 18 ores crafted in to two blocks for a golem + a pumpkin (maybe have differing heads).
Then this idea can be made so you can right click a golem and open a "command" menu.. where you can equip it with armor for def. or a weapon to attack with.. and have a single item slot for food. By default the golem would stand there and not do anything productive.. You'd need to equip and adjusts its settings.
Then it needs a simple gambit like system from FF12... So it can be used in a practical manner(wolves and snow golems are fun but aren't necessarily practical as sometimes a bit random).. Where you set if it is a skeleton or a Zombie pig man (since bow and arrow or sword are our weapons.. those are the current monsters that fight with them.. though they'd probably need a melee and a ranged AI made for them specifically, but for the sake of this post I'm just going to skip that..(based on which weapon you give it), Then you need one for what % of its hearts it needs to use its food item..
Then you can set weather it follows the player or stands in one spot(for guard towers or guarding a door) or if it "guards and area" (like a 10 X 10 block space or something and will attack monsters that enter in to that range)..
These then could be built to protect our bases or aid us in "raiding" a cave.. and if team base Multilayer severs come eventually.. they could even be used for small scale "wars".. or for a chest match.. or checkers... anyway..
Basically this would be a way more complicated wolf I guess using the snow golem as a base.. That would require a bunch of ores/time and some amount of maintenance for them to stay functioning since armors, weapons, and food will wear/run out after awhile.. and the more you have the more you need.. and if they die your out of your materials..
With the potions now added, they could even only be able to use certain potions to heal them, rather then food.
I can see how this could be more then a bit overpowered in the long run.. So maybe there would need to be a cap on how many you can have active in a single world.. For muti-player would need be each player can create X amount of them.. If that is an issue..
Well that's the idea.. not sure how to better explain but since I like the concept I figured I'd put it out there.. To be liked or hated or thought of as meh...
