If they can create boats and ships, they have to be able to create machines, like trucks, mining trucks, planes, combine hervasters, etc, all for doing MC works easier.
While I really like the idea, I think it would be much simpler to have ships made out of blocks, like the Zeppelin mod. It would be easier to add on to, and allow for more creativity too.

I would like that, but as it stands right now, it will crash any server any day, and I would like them to be faster, there's no point in spending so much resources in a boat if it's as slow as nowadays' boats
I thought once that it would be cool if you could place floating blocks (other than lillypads) on water. Then you would craft a 'redstone rudder' and stick it under a floatilla of floating blocks (on the underwater side of the boat). Then using redstone you wire up the rudder to a control mechanism (like a steering wheel or something) which you could mount in the cabin of the ship. In this fashion you could build ships of any shape or size (larger sizes requiring more rudders depending on aquatic surface area covered) and steer them about with a wheel powering the rudders. With this type model your free to build anything from a simple barge, flotilla, canoe, or elaborite designs like pirate ships, galleons, frigates, even carriers and destroyers.
Too many boxes. Just because it looks good doesn't mean it will play well in the game. I also explicitly said I didn't want block ships. You probably didn't read the IPKPWCS.
Wouldn't this need some sort of docking system? I mean, how are you gonna hold that big boat?
