This is one of the few suggestions that only the most annoying whiners (such as nostalgia-ist extremists) would get mad at. Everyone else would freaking love it as long as Mojang doesn't screw it up. Great job.
What about do the same thing with xbox, have two downloads with minecraft webpage. Like : Minecraft Mac/Lunix/Windows | Minecraft Windows Version
In theory they could but again it comes back to money and would it even affect it for people. Coding it twice in two different coding languages would cost twice as much and make no more money for them since they already have a universal download. From their perspective it would make no sense at all for it to be coded in two separate languages and chances are the C++ version would not run any better and if it did the amount by which it was better would be very small. It could be done in theory but there's no sense to it and adding updates would become much more of an ordeal since both versions would have to have the same things before they could release either of them.
EDIT: Just so everyone knows, I play on a really shitty PC right now and any amount of it running better would be great for me. I'm not just saying this because I have a beast gaming rig and don't care what other people think about the fps of the game. I just don't see the logic in re-coding from their point of view, much less coding two versions at the same time.

Or hire 20 other workers, they have over $20,000,000 I'm sure they can recode it. MANY people can't play minecraft, becuase of their spec's, those 7,000,000 out of 41,000,000. Would make more then triple the amount. The amount, they have right now.
Then you multiply the 30,000,000 by $27. (Probobly exclude 10,000,000 for several reasons) I'm sure Notch/Jeb could make 4 new games with that. Or go on a 10 week vacation
Epic idea! We need Notch to see and use this. I am tired of only having the little boats that do nothing but break when you hit something. I don't even need the cannons yet. just the boats on smp would be an epic win!
I fully support except for the cannons, those may be a little OP, maybe just cannonballs that make an explosion that doesn't harm blocks but does entities.
Boats honestly suck in vanilla MC, there's no point in using them at all besides crossing short distances. Even if only the Dinghy ideas and the Skiff were implemented I would be happy.

Neckbeards! Doctor Cichocki does not approve of stupidity and neither do I, stop the spread of damned useless rules!
This post is just amazing, man. Boats really could use updates (it's annoying to traverse the grand seas of Minecraft on a tiny fragile boat), and I would have no problems putting this in vanilla. +1 rep and diamonds for this good chap.

That's not entirely accurate. Many people can't play Minecraft WELL because of their specs, me being one of those people. More importantly you only know you can't play it or play it well AFTER you've bought the game and they already have your money. They used to refuse to post any ball park figure for needed specs to run the game, I'm not sure if they ever did post specs or not (probably not because then they'd make a little less money.). So from their point of view it's more money out for something they don't really need. Ipso facto, forthwith and henceforth there is no logical reason for them to re-code the game a second time and over complicate things when they likely will lose money doing it. Not much money mind you, but it won't benefit them.
So apparently posting on a thread about anything other than the thread's topic or "bumping" it in any way shape or form is strictly prohibited and a right big no no. Sooooo..... Boats! It's a thing.
That's gonna be some MASSIVE boats! But I love the idea. minecraft should add more ideas like this.

If you see me on this site, it's probably because I'm not particularly interested in it. Or I may be slightly intoxicated, though probably you won't see me here.

This would help allot for looking for mushroom islands.
But I've yet to meet someone who can outlast fire.

<insert witty stuff here>
*Does not include archers, skeletons, Wither, Enderdragon, Ghast, or other ranged or flying mobs.
This would also be great for that 'Shipwrecks' Idea I read earlier
+1
