But if you add boats and pirate ships there would have to be guns and i dont think that fits in with minecraft
Your right, and because they are adding horses and saddles they have to add dinosaurs.
Also I must say, I found a civilizations server that includes a ton of trading between all the nations, and my town is in the middle of the ocean, I hope mojang hurries up and adds this already.
Also, could there be a storage room, that works like a chest but what you put in it actually appears in the room as a block (shows what is in the first row)
I think that what the person who complained about how this wouldn't work with entities is correct... this means that only up to the skiff could be added, and even that wouldn't have a working chest, it's because entities are like moving, SINGULAR, blocks this means that trapdoors to lower decks, beds, chests and the whole lot could not be added. Because the entire ship works the same way and it would be impossible (or very very very hard to code.) to have one portion of it's graphics be "openable" (trap doors, chests.)
If mojang actually manages to code this I'll turn into a leprechaun and dance a rainbow jig.
So if this is cod able you have a easy /support!

I don't really care if you click the green arrow, but if it makes you feel like you make me feel good...
I very much like this idea, but like at least one other person indicated, I'm not sure if it is compatible with the way current entities work.
Entities, right now, from what I understand cannot contain actual blocks because they don't fit into the block grid. They are mobs or "mobiles". As such, there currently isn't a way to add blocks to an entity like it is part of the landscape. Some entities (like donkeys and minecart w/ chest) look like they have blocks placed on them but what I imagine they really are are single entities with a texture that looks like the entity and a block and an internal inventory that opens when you interact. As such you could make a boat with a chest or a furnace, but it would only have one inventory and wouldn't be customizable with any block.
I see the same problem with player spots unless they are pre-defined as well.
Anway, I really like this idea and would like to see a way it could be implemented though. I was hoping to hear you elaborate on how you hope to circumvent the current entity restrictions though.
thanks!

I thought adding floating bricks that could be united as an entity would be great, but your idea is so much better. I'm really hoping it gets implemented because I'm tired of stationary ships (they get boring), and I'm sick of building cities with marinas full of dinghies!
I fully support this.
I can see great potential coming from this if it were added. New minigames and a new possession to work hard to obtain in your survival world.
I like the idea, maybe add the possibility to add a turret onto the boat, and sink other people's boat. What you could do is give boats a certain amount of health, and it would begin to let in water, go slower, and eventually sink if it's health is low enough
How about the motor runs on redstone, but you have to put in a number of redstone dust items for a certain distance/speed.
you could even do it while it's running
I kind of like this idea but I am a little confused by it. If there is a gallon there might be like one person moving the boat in like a boat. I support the idea of bigger boats but i am just a little confused and i kind of think it would be weird being like this...
"Colder than the snow that blankets the earth" "Colder than the ice that cover the stones and freezes the rivers" "Colder than the north wind blowing through a winter-bound forest" "Colder than all these is the smile of a Shade of the Dark"

I'm holding you up to your word!
I think it would be possible to have boats not as a single entity, but more of a multi-entity 'tree' that works together in unison.
You get as much rep as I can give!

Iron Plated boats aren't the same as Iron clads, and look at the wiki about the era comparisons:
http://en.wikipedia....i/Victorian_era 1837-1901
http://en.wikipedia....rican_Civil_War 1861-1865
So in reality, the American Civil War Era is within the Victorian Era.
