When I first saw Magma Cream, I thought, "Hey, what if Nether Warts gave you some contagious infection that is cured by rubbing Magma Cream on yourself?" I was sure that was going to be the use of Nether Warts, but soon after, Notch revealed that they are used for potions. Actually, that makes it better.
You get Nether Warts by punching them out of the ground and collecting them from Nether Dungeons. Note, you are ripping them out with your hand, touching the Nether Warts.
Harvesting Nether Warts with your hand has a 10% chance of infecting you with a Nether Wart. You won't see it, but there will be a Nether Wart growing out of your head. It has to grow, though.
Once the Nether Wart is fully grown, the disease can be spread. The Nether Wart can grow outside of the Nether.
What does the Nether Wart do? When it's fully grown, it will root into your body. Every minute, you will gain 1/2 heart of damage, allowing you some time to get some Magma Cream.
Now that you are contagious, the world is pretty much doomed. Let's say you are hungry, so you punch a pig to death. Right before it dies, it slips away, but there is another pig in front of you. You kill that one instead. You have now mingled with a pig and let it live. You haven't noticed it, but the pig has the infection. Very soon a Nether Wart will sprout. Now that pigs don't despawn, it will spread to other pigs in that area. The pigs will spread it to the other animals. Soon enough, there are no animals in your area. Eventually, the infection will get out of hand.
If you kill an infected mob, it will not drop items. If an infected mob died of the infection, it will not drop items.
How do you cure the infection? Well, if you try to consume (not really consuming) the Magma Cream, it will be used up, but your infection will be gone. You can right click on another mob (even other players) with Magma Cream to cure it. Now you don't have to worry about your ranch animals dying! :wink.gif:
The next time you are farming Nether Warts for a potion, think twice about using your hand.
Lol, that wouldn't be too good. Do all friendly mobs not despawn? Or is it just pigs.
All peaceful mobs and wolves.

Who agrees it would be epic to trap a creeper in a Glass Pane display case, infect it, cure yourself, watch the display case for a few Minecraft days, and make the creeper suffer? XD
Cruel, but that's what creepers get for blowing up your diamond chest. >:biggrin.gif:

O rly?
This is a suggestion, not a mod. I don't have to program a thing.
