First of all, I am against all staff/wand suggestions and pew pew magic. An example of a pew pew spell is shooting a fireball or lightning bolt. That is NOT what this suggestion is about, and I do not want you suggesting it in here.
The Enchantment Table book is obviously a spell book, as it has spells, and it's a book (what kind of explanation is that?)
To copy down a spell onto a scroll, you must enchant a piece of paper. This will create a new item - a Scroll. Scrolls have a purple glow effect like all other enchanted items. Depending on the spell you used to enchant it, the scroll will possess a different spell (the spell you used, yet another weird explanation). Like a potion, you can mouse over the scroll to see the spell it has on it.
What is the purpose of a scroll? Well, having a scroll in your inventory allows you to cast the spell on it, which is the selected spell from the Enchantment Spell book. All of these spells will obviously enchant tools and armor in the Enchantment Table, but they each have unique purposes, too.
The most basic of Spells is the Ignition spell. It is the one that says you must use Experience Orbs to enchant. If you have a scroll with the Ignition spell on it, right click on a mob (no humans) with Blaze Powder. It will be set on fire, eventually to die.
There is a positive and negative spell of each element. The negative fire spell is the Fireproof spell. Right click on a mob (no humans) with Magma Cream to make it resistant to fire forever. As you can see, a positive and negative effect rule each other out. The mob cannot die if it's resistant to fire.
There are other spells, but I have not decided them yet. This post is to basically explain how scrolls and spells should work. :wink.gif:

I am meowing at my lung’s fullest. I would even argue that the echo that reverberates back to me is the voice of someone I know…
Not bad..not bad....but isn't creating fire flint+steel's job? How is making fire with an enchantment different then shooting a bolt of lighting with a wand? I like the basic idea, but I felt the need to say that.

Shooting a bolt of lightning is a skill and projectile attack. Burning something with blaze powder is setting it on fire, but it's MAGIC and flint and steel can't directly set mobs on fire.

It can set the block beneath on fire, which is about the same thing. I'm just wondering what else can be done with this. I like the idea, but I'm not sure how Notch could do it properly. Also, I think that, as far as the table goes, clicking one should turn the scroll into a scroll of ignition, resistance, etc, and be one use, ather than consuming items.
