I am a new Minecraft junkie and I LOVE IT! But I am a Peaceful Level user and may never move on to mobs & creepers, because I am an old lady that get anxious even playing minesweeper. I'd like to see sub-levels within the peaceful level that require, for example, eating to maintain health, etc. that would increase difficulty within the peaceful level without requiring the need to fight off monsters and other evil creatures. I could even deal with night-time nature hazards like wolves, etc. (I am a druid so nature is okay) but I don't see myself going beyond that. Thanks for your consideration of my suggestion.
A fair amount of people have been wishing for a way to activate/deactivate hunger that is independent from difficulty for a while now, and I don't see what harm it could do (even though I prefer to play on normal with hunger I can see why others would wish to turn it on/off).

Surround your home with a great wall, light everything up so no monster will spawn in the vicinity and play on hard. Basically, you need to create a "peaceful" region of the world.

...You completely missed the point of the OP. He/she wanted the ability to activate hunger while still maintaining peaceful mode's lack of hostile monster spawns.

I'm talking of gameplay style where you have hunger, but don't have to worry about hostile monsters.

You also made me laugh at this idea. Monsters would just walk into the "Peacefull" area so it wouldnt work anyway. and he would have to worry about creepers till noon. I think this is a good idea though. :biggrin.gif: I play on normal of course but I have a peaceful map I just use to goof around and find new update things. I would also want some incentive to at least farm on peaceful mode haha.
Bah. Monsters spawn when at low enough dark level. If you spawn the territory well enough, they won't spawn here.
Anyway, I'm just talking about the possibility to play with hunger and without monsters if you don't use mods.
Oh, and monsters can't walk into a peaceful area if it's protected by those neat things called "walls".
EDIT: Of course it's just a temporary solution for OP, and lack of hunger loss in Peaceful mode seems strange.
