Hey guys, I don't know if this has been made before, but I think Notch should have a tutorial world to show n00bs how the game works (I remember my first time playing, I had no idea how people on Youtube made pickaxes and such :tongue.gif:)

I was thinking that more should have be about the achievements, that help lead people to create and discover things without actually telling them directly how to craft various items or where to go for other items.
Yeah, How would you implement this into the game? Would you have it as a saved world that was created when you first download minecraft?
Good idea! Or maybe just a downloadable world from the Minecraft site? That way, the Minecraft team wouldn't have to modify any code.
It'd be nice to have a button in the World Select menu that allows you to import .zip files of maps without ever dealing with the .minecraft folder. That way, a newbie could install the map easily.

Spontaneous combustion - one of the many hazards of travel between worlds.
Sorry but i disagree. Minecraft is the King of Sandbox games. And the core element of sandbox games is trial and error - to find out by yourself what to do and how to survive. Giving a tutorial would totally negate this sense.
And if you REALLY need information about minecraft .. try google .. and you will get gazzillions sites full of information, walkthroughs, guides and wikis.
Apologies for the double post, but you have a point.
However, sandbox games are about giving you options. If a player wants to jump in quickly, a tutorial would be nice, but others may enjoy finding things out on their own.
You may remember the 'Play tutorial level' button from Alpha. Perhaps nest that in the options menu and have the tutorial map there!
