Now that the armor system has been changed, you remain at full protection until your armor breaks (durability drops to Zero%) Can you implement some sort of sound effect or audio cue to let us know when a section of armor breaks? I was in a tense battle in the nether. I was surrounded by pigmen and getting bombarded by ghasts. If I had realized my armor had broken, I would have retreated out of that situation. But normally with my armor on, I only take 1/2 heart to 1 heart of damage from a zombie pigman. Once I hear that armor breaking cue, I know its time to get out immediately. I play on Hard exclusively. Without Armor, I am dead in 3 hits.
This is really important now that weapon damage has been nerfed. You can not just swing wildly and hope for the best, you won't make it.
Unarmed, it takes 22 hits to kill a zombie pigman. With an iron sword, I think it takes 4 or 5 hits. Thats a lot.
As for the actual sound effect, it can sound like a piece of metal snapping. Or whatever the sound guy can creatively do with this task.
On the actual idea I like any item breaking sound as long as its still cartoon and not just metal clings.
Total armor strength is based off the material of each piece, not the durability. Which means you'd know how much armor is left, as soon as the bar drops a piece has been lost.

Btw, i kind of like how it takes more hits. 3 Hitting mobs is boring.
Sorry, It is already changed in 1.9 prerelease.
May I ask what changed?
