So I recently found an ender pearl drop, and after looking up notches discussion on reddit about its use in 1.9 I came up with a cool idea.
A teleporter network made from ender pearls. there would be an enderpearl in the center, gold on the top, bottom, and sides and cobble, wood, etc on the conners. Different teleporters made of the same corner material would be networked together. you would use a ender pearl rod (simmlar to the blaze rod) on it to teleport between them.
ya my first idea was when you crafted them they would give you two, and when you placed those would teleport you between them, but personally i like the idea of having multiple TP networks, iron teleporting you between houses, iron teleporting you between mines, wood teleporting you between forests, etc...
Also (from my limited programming knowledge) I would think that the network idea would be easier to program than having an infinite number of linked teleporters, especially if they were all made of the same blocks
You are not the first one to have the idea to use enderpearls for teleporters of some sort. :sad.gif:
However, that crafting, maybe.
Ya I saw how notch didn't like the idea of people being able to "fast travel" by repeatedly trowing a stack of ender pearls, and this seemed like a good way to work around that problem
@ minecraft dude
That would be awesome! as I said i don't know the first thing about programming but if there was anything I could do to help please let me know
You do relize you can throw the Enderpearl and it can teleport you. Right?
yes, but this would be a permanent way to teleport long distances between building location, store rooms, home, etc.
and because it is a permanent block location, and not however far you can throw. I don't think it would have the same balance issues that some people were talking about with having a stack of ender pearls and using them to travel long distances very fast
I posted a similar post (although it got deleted like all my posts ¬¬) where you use coloured wool to make multiple transport nodes that connect to the same colour
Colored wool would work as well, but I like the idea of using a wood teleported to take you to a forest, sandstone to take you to the dessert, cobble to a mine, etc. teleporters coded to where you farm the corresponding material. but I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't be able to use wool too.

Did I help? Press the (+) to the right, thanks.

BTW.
i am working on a mod named Better Menu
