how cool would minecraft be without lag? it would make gameplay easier :smile.gif: , but most of us think of Minecraft to have a laggy reputation, how would minecraft be if lag was as rare a cow spawning in a zombie spawner (figure of speech :laugh.gif: )? Please leave a comment below.
The only way to fix lag is to give everybody super epicsauce computers and super epicsauce internet connections, as well as have everybody within the same region. In other words...
Impossible. :sad.gif:

There's a way, but only if you've got mad computer skills and an awesome knowledge of Java. I guess you could "transfer" the game in a non-java based format to reduce lag considerably but than it wouldn't be minecraft and would be a lot harder to mod.
I strongly believe that minecraft is only laggy on PC's which cannot handle it (Like most laptops). I built my own PC as a gaming computer and I have only experienced lag in 1.8 pre-release. I get over 100fps in 1.8.1 max settings.
Erm. I'm sure Notch would try to remove lag as easily as you imagine. It takes a lot of work, and notch might have tried his best so far. Try upgrading your comp a bit, that should help. Turn down view distance, graphics, smooth lighting, etc.

By the time the final release date rolls around, it'll be about as non-laggy as Notch can possibly make it. Games will always be laggy on slow computers, but Minecraft shouldn't be much worse than any other.
Notch made Minecraft with Java, so of course it's slow. I have no idea why he thought it was a good idea. C or C++ would've been a much better choice imo.

There are plenty of Minecraft ports over into different languages, including C++, C#, and C++. All of those versions are completely lag-free and are extremely basic. Believe it or not, Notch isn't a "genius" in programming, but rather a "genius" in game design (arguably). The clones that are available are pretty basic and compare to Indev but still prove that Java was a huge-ass mistake for Notch. Most of the clone developers are doing it as a learning experience and not a job so it's open source.

Instead of saying "make game not lagg", how bout suggest a way to do this. Don't tell me "better coding". Its one thing to say we need less lagg and another to provide a way to make the game less laggy. Limit the number of entities allowed in a chunk would be one example of decreasing lagg. Allow for lower resolution textures would be another.
To suggest we need less lagg is like suggesting we need more fun or I need more money. I tried that on my boss once and he laughed. Point is, Instead of suggesting "we need less lagg", suggest ways to reduce the lagg.
