IDEA ONE
So, I think that we should have a sphere gun.
You craft it with diamond and obsidian, and it fires ender pearls, slimeballs, and snowballs.
This way, all of these (mostly) useless things are useful.
IDEA TWO
meat on a stick!
It explains itself!
You put the meat of choice above a stick, and it makes meat on a stick!
put meat above meat on a stick, and you make a double meat stick!
holds up to three meats,
and has three uses
all restoring 4 meat things
Also, we really need another use for:
glowstone dust
sugarcane
eggs
milk
wheat
sticks
SUGARCANE, WHEAT, MILK, EGGS, STICKS, GLOWSTONE DUST, ENDER PEARLS, AND SLIMEBALLS ALL HAVE USES! How can you not see it?

You can already throw snowballs, soon we can throw ender pearls to teleport. I do think they should find another use for slime other than sticky pistons (I like the jump pad idea).
Making shishkabobs would have been awesome if they didn't make food stackable.
Sugarcane makes sugar for cake and paper for compasses, maps and bookshelves. This doesn't need another use.
Glowstone dust I could see being used in alchemy, or *stretch* used to make your armor glow and put off a dim light (maybe each piece of armor = 1/4 of glowstone's light).
Eggs spawn moar chickens and is used for cake.
Milk should be drinkable for hunger.
Wheat = bread and cake. there really is no other use for it except maybe kindle for fire, but we have netherack for that.
Sticks are used in every tool (besides shears and flint/steel) plus fences, ladders, torches, levers and arrows. It has enough uses.

you make a slingshot
and you load it with stones you get by refining gravel...

I've wondered, what does food poisoning do? I haven't seen any repercussions, so I've been nomming dem zombies instead of actual food.

Pour a bucket of water on gravel and it makes clay. That would be a good use, because clay is so rare.
