This is a good idea, but some people's bases are already overrun by slimes, maybe just lower the chances of groups spawning? And I'd also like some sort of in-game indication that they can spawn in that chunk, like green goo puddles on the ground w/ rain dripping effects.
I think this is a very good suggestion. Any distinctive characteristic would be a good addition, I think a lot of people would profit from it.
I don't care how it is done, Smucks idea of goo puddles would be a possibility, another one for example some "Goo Blocks", where slimes spawn from. Maybe looking a slime, exactly block sized with more than one face wobbling in it.

Edit : This thread is not about raising the number of spawning chunks, as the quote may suggest.

I've still yet to find a slime, so i like the idea. it will also help those that want to build adventure maps and include slimes. with this, they don't have to do anything else except look for goo.
Maybe it would be cool if slimes were able to make the ground they hop on gooey, like Snowgolems make the ground snowy.
Then you can shovel to goo for slimeballs, too.
Also, if this goo is persistent, it would easily work as a distinctive characteristic for chunks able to spawn slimes.
I think it would even qualify as "Slime Biome".
add a palette swaped slime to the possible mushroom biome? could still find them in your mines, and you'd have a distinctive place to get/avoid them. I'd also like the idea of goo showing up randomly in 'slime chunks', implemented by way of the current slime spawning mechanics, just mirror them and increase the spawn rate so the chunks are easier to spot. I'm on the fence about getting slime balls from the goo though, it makes sense in a way, as you said like shoveling snow, but slime balls still need to be rare in order for sticky pistons to be rare. Maybe if the goo only spawns when the chunk is first generated and is persistant.
The idea was, that they leave the slime spawning chunks as they are, but the slimes spread goo ( like snow golems snow).
This goo then should be persistant. This way, it only shows up, where slimes have already hopped around.
The "slimes in swamps" has a own thread actually. If they are really gonna do this, slimes should still be bound to slime spawner chunks. This is because the biomes are so extremely big now, that a swamp would flood you with slimes in ridiculous numbers, even if they were made much more rare.
In short : Goo should originate from slimes, not the other way around.
This way we had a characteristic trait where they spawn and slimeballs would still be pretty rare.
@ Flashrebel : I wouldn't goo the ground by default, only slimes would leave goo (when moving). This way you wouldn't have to define a new biome at all, the slimes would "make" their own biome by simply moving around :smile.gif:

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.
Please click the dragons, they need to grow. Also, my fully grown dragons can be found in my bio.
Praise be to Spode.
