After playing around with the Realtek program for Realtek audio devices, I found out that I could change the enviroment that should be simulatet and realised that by enabling this option and go to a cave I feelt that I wanted to explore more with the option "Generic" (makes nice echoes) than with the option "None".
So what do you think? Would it be nice with echoes in caves?
And if you don't like the echo or wanted a break from it you could just turn it off.
Now you might discuss your opinions
(I'm sorry about words that is misspelled and grammar that isn't 100% right, but I'm from Norway so it is to be expected)
I love the concept of echoes in caves in MC; but I have yet to find anyone who can answer the question of "HOW"?!
If you know how this could be implemented than you'd be awesome. Without complicated physics and psychosis-inducing lag, I don't know how to easily implement this.

There's already a sound that will play when you're in the vicinity of a cave, which means there's already detection for whether the player is in or near one. Maybe use that same detection, lessen the radius to ensure that the player is indeed inside and not just nearby, and apply an effect to all sounds.
GV141 since your from Norway, I can write to you in norwegian about how enable it on Realtek Audio Devices (Atleast on win 7)
Ekkoen vil vere overalt ikkje berre i huler.

I'll just do a little bump on this.
I know that there is more Minecraft players that want an echo feature to Minecraft when in caves as this will make it more experiencing when exploring cave.
Every sound (even the sound that you hear while mining) will be echoed while the player is in a cave.
