Clay Urn block. Takes up one block, made from clay (duh).
It would function as a potting plant in addition to looking good. You could plant flowers, mushrooms, wheat, whatever in it, as its top surface would function as dirt.
A simple, practical, and enriching idea. Thoughts?
We do need uses for clay and being able to grow things anywhere would be nice, but what do you mean with your storage thing? That you can just use them as single-unit treasure chests? With clay so much harder to get than wood, that would be impractical unless pots were made without tables...

I'm just trying to be a better Minecrafter.

I went ahead and cut out that part. Now, if it could hold lots of stuff and, in terms of storage space, be an alternative to a chest (while sacrificing its planting capability if used as storage), then that might be worth considering.
It could work. Three slots, made by two vertical clay blocks, and it's possible to recollect it. I'd make those.
Dangerous spot in a dungeon? Plop your vase down and unload the good stuff before venturing further, rather than either running to your last chest or making a crafting table and a new chest.
Clay would have to be a little more common or possible to make, though.
I think you're onto something there. But yes, people would have to prioritize their clay. For those of us who explore and rarely use clay blocks in construction, there should be enough (I doubt they'll add more clay so that people can make a ton of urns, you know?).
It may be just me, but i don't know about a clay pot being used for storage. I mean, when was the last time you took a pot or vase and shoved your stuff in it? I DO however, like the part about being able to grow plants and such. Thats pretty nifty. Im just saying, clay pots as storage, just sounds a tad odd to me.
Well, the entire point of Minecraft is being (sometimes literally) resourceful. A vase is something you COULD put things in...really, just make it possible to craft clay somehow. Maybe buckets of water and sand, but probably something harder to craft.
I'm just saying. You CAN put stuff in a vase, but i would suggest making it only a 3x3 chest. So its literally both practical and decorative. It would only make sense imo.
To craft clay, i would suggest using one bucket of water, and some dirt
From the looks of it, it would be cobblestone and some chemical to make clay, since it's just a sort of heavily weathered rock. Maybe sand, cobblestone, and water from top to bottom...I suppose there's no harm in making clay readily available, anyway.
More clay would be nice, but I think clay urns would be nicer :smile.gif: Perhaps clay could be as simple as 4 pieces of dirt? Not for a clay block, but for clay as it would be mined.

EDIT: cut out a half-baked section.
