If you build wooden structures online, other people will simply and easily burn them down.
So you're forced to make a stone type house if you don't want it to be burned.
This sucks because if wood is so fragile but stone isn't, then its imbalanced.
My suggestion to fix this: The stone eater.
Stone eaters are greyish blue lizard-like MOBs that are the length of 2 minecraft boats, the width of 1 minecraft boat, have 10 hearts of health, and spawn anywhere dark except for the nether. They do not burn up in the sunlight.
They are slightly rarer than other MOBs, and have 2 yellow eyes as well as a row of spikes going from their tail to their head (which can be removed with a texture pack.)
They make deep reptilian growls and screeches, and they wander around eating stone blocks, any type. This includes cobblestone, smooth stone, bricks, etc. When they die, they will drop all of the stone that they ate, and if they ate smooth stone, it comes back out as smooth stone.
If you don't want your stone buildings to be griefed when you are not on the surface, you will either have to place defenses, such as spikes (When is Notch going to add spikes!?) or a moat thats filled with water or lava, or, if you don't mind the horrible appearance, cacti. Or play on normal or easy, because stone eaters will only spawn on hard mode.
The problem with stone eaters is that due to their scaly armour, they are immune to arrows. So you'll have to sprint to them to kill them.
Yes, but the problem is that if you build out of stone only, it looks terrible.
Building something out of ANY single material tends to look terrible.

It's made of hardened lava, wood is made from chopped down trees.

Most people build using both stone and wood (and some glass.)
Even though stone is the harder material, I want something that makes it harder for me to survive making only stone structures.

I agree.
I'm deciding on 10 hearts.
