So out of all the blocks currently in existence there are only 3 that I would consider designed with a "household use" in mind: Beds, paintings, and bookshelves. Obviously the bed has an ulterior motive (moving spawn point/wasting the scary night away) but bookshelves and paintings actually have no use other than making the place look better.
So I was wondering why not add more items in to make a home more like an actual home? I'm talking about things like actual chairs and actual tables. Usually if I want to add a table to my house I either just put blocks of wood down or I build a table out of fenceposts and slabs. both of these are, quite honestly, ugly solutions but they're the only solutions currently. Same issue for chairs since the only block that even remotely resembles seating are stairs which again while works isn't exactly a polished finish. I do like the touch of adding sign posts onto the ends for arm rests but they're not exactly attractive like that.
So anyways what I was thinking was maybe adding in some sort of block that you can create like so:
which would create a table that was a block and a half high like a fence but only appeared to be a block high. These blocks would connect with similar blocks in nearby squares so you could make as large a table top as you wanted.
For chairs maybe something like this for construction:
or maybe
anyways you get the point. Maybe you could also add couches constructed similar to chairs but maybe with cloth instead of wood for a more comfortable seat. This idea can get expanded into an entire set if given enough time and I think it'd just be fun to have working furniture instead of thrown together blocks that don't quite fit the bill. Maybe you could even right click on a chair/couch and sit in it like you would a minecart/boat just for the lulz.
Stairs work as Chairs.
Fences and pressure plates as tables.
But i think that when you have A Bookshelf, bed And a Jukebox your house is perfect :biggrin.gif:
Like I said we have blocks that "work" (i've used them since there were no other options) but that doesn't mean I don't want actual blocks for em :biggrin.gif:.
Course they're far from required but I think they'd be cool nonetheless
It's a good idea, but you can already make chairs and tables with fences, pressure plates, pistons, stairs, signs etc.
Though it bothers me that I have to place chairs with 2 blocks in between then.
It's not really needed but good idea I guess.

Course its not needed. Were paintings needed? Jukeboxes? lol. Its for a fun time and actually having a good looking house to live in instead of slapped together furniture which, while definitely functional, isn't exactly what you want usually lol.
Piggles says yes! Even though that this is overly suggested (use the search bar please), i still like the idea, maybe there can even be mob plsuhies/statues!
