Zombies have always been infamous for turning their surviving victims into more zombies, which is why they should be able to do so in Minecraft. There could be a 50% chance that whenever a zombie hits you, you will turn into one. The zombification process would then take about 2 minutes. You're skin changes into the zombie's and you now would have the attributes of a zombie and more (just to make things a little more interesting).
:smile.gif: Positives:
Hostile mobs become neutral
Other zombies follow you if you are within 15 blocks of them
:sad.gif: Negatives:
You burn if in contact with sunlight
You can only move as fast as a zombie (meaning you can't sprint)
Your hunger bar is replaced by a "wear & tear" bar, which decreases faster than the hunger bar
You can only eat meat to refill your wear and tear bar
Even if you die while you're a zombie, you still respawn as a zombie
If you didn't like being a zombie, you would be able to make a special concoction which would turn you back into a human. The ingredients would be reasonably hard to obtain, otherwise no one would really care all that much if they became a zombie in the first place. Even though it's more of a hassle than anything else, I think zombification would make the zombie a much of larger threat... unless you love the benefits and can handle the drawbacks, than you can have a blast!
Awesome Idea! Hope some modder would be interested to make this. =)

Hello, I don't usually follow threads that I post in. So if you would like to have a civilized chat / reply / argument that is of the utmost importance, just PM me. =)
Very bad idea. It would make zombies way too overpowered, and having to hide from sunlight would be a pain in the butt. What would even be the point? What if you didn't want to be a zombie, but a zombie snuck up behind you or something? If its added, the cure should be easy to obtain.

"And while your workbench is out make a shovel because the sun is going down and now your going to dig a big hole and cry in it until the exploding bush monsters go away." - Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw
Yes I agree with Tbender. Singleplayer would be game over if you turn into a zombie. I think in SP, there should only be zombification in Hardcore and Hard. Or there will be an option in the world creation menu.
Also one of the Negatives should be villagers will attack you.
Sounds awesome. Although you wouldn't be a rank-and-file zombie if you had human intelligence, wielded tools, and carried an inventory. Maybe a half-zombie of sorts?
I'd also highly suggest night vision, since zombies (and every other enemy) find you just fine in pitch blackness.

Good idea, bad idea...What do you think?
