Well, im a total n00b, and think that minecraft needs a few more things. Here are a few food items that i want to see in the game (please pardon my many spelling and gramatical errors)
Pies: These are items that can don't stack, but give 4 hunger points up to 3 times, each time eaten, changes the image to match the number of slices left. They can be crafted with Apples or Pumpkins, but for sake of convienience, im using apples.
:-( ):
Gelaten: These items are placed like cake, when stepped on, they have a chance of breaking, but if shot with an arrow/egg/snowball, they jiggle. They are mostly just for fun, but can be eaten 6 times, each healing 1/2 a hunger point.
Feather=Sugar
Teal Wool=Snowball
Sea Green Wool=Bone meal
Carrots: Found in Plains, and are marked by white flowers. When harvested, they drop 0-3 carrot seeds, and 1 carrot. Carrots add 1/2 to the food bar. They are used to make beef stew, wich functions like mushroom stew.
Beef Stew: Functions like mushroom stew.
Golden Boots=Carrots
Plates: Unsure on how to craft them. When right-click on a plate with food, the food gets put on the plate. Food placed on plates give 1 hunger point more than usual, but have to be placed on pressure plates.
Cheese: Sinse there is no lemons in minecraft, and adding them would be iffy, than all you have to do is smelt milk. You keep the bucket.
And of course, it's been said over and over, apple tree saplings and cocoa tree saplings. maybe found in stongholds?
Well, those are my ideas. Post what you think of them below. I am open to criticism.
Additions from replyers:
Hard Candies:
Can be made with watermelons or apples. Again for sake of convieneince, i am using apples. :-( ):
Drinking Water: Smelt a bucket of water for boiled water. Craft with a bucket in the middle and three glass bottles below it for 3 bottles of drinking water
1. Check if it's in the right section... Success
2. Read some and see if it's worth reading... Success
3. See if the spelling is decent enough... Failure
4. Look for pictures... Success

If you're reading this it most likely determines that you're able to read.
Do you want to play my adventure map, Trials and Tribulations?
Nice... I like the idea of the sapplings. But not very much the one of the plates.
I have another food suggestion :
Boiling water in a furnace would make it drikable and would heal 1/2 heart.
Plates have to be placed on pressure plates? Is this because pressure plate + fence = table? Why cant I place it on a wooden block? Maybe if there was an actual table block, and you could sit on chairs(stairs + signs). Other than that...
I like the idea of more foods. Some would say, "Its already too easy to get food, why do we need more?" I think its the same reason we need more block types, more craftable items, more mobs. Plus I think we should have more food effects. Maybe if I eat alot of meats my strength will slowly increase, alot of fruits and veggies my dash speed or stamina(food bar) will increase. Unhealthy foods maybe negative effect but more faster increase in food bar.
Anyways my addition to food ideas is maple syrup. Tapping into a tree using a pipe made of iron ingots gives maple syrup or other type syrup depending on tree. The tree would only be able to supply 3 buckets of syrup a day and will only work if tree touches ground and has leaves surrounding the top.

"If it already has been done then it can be done again" or
"If its a mod its possible to be a feature"

Ahh, but we'd need a maple tree for that. The only trees in minecraft so far are birch, spruce, and oak.
Had an idea that you could make sugar into hard candy. Heat sugar in an oven to make caramel, then craft 9 units of caramel together and you get one hard candy.
You need cream to make caramel. Cream=milk, so i think it should be craftable. I mean, you make cake, cookies, and bread without baking them, so why do you have to smelt the sugar?
