Sadly, that's not a confirmation of anything. Someone just decided to note Dinnerbone's acknowledgement of this topic. The same page also says Red Dragons are coming - but has said so for years.
I'm still hoping this suggestion will get implemented, but until we get a definite response from a reliable source (like one of the mojang's twitter feeds) we can only wait and hope.
Definitely support this. I've wanted to make a cyborg skin with one human arm and one robot arm for so long! Any idea if Mojang will work on this in the future?
idea for the bottom half of the image! different head textures (both head and hat layers, full 6 sides, for support of eyes that aren't on the front or are on the hat layer) for when the player is in a bed. steve sleeping with his eyes closed at last?...
The cons list is stupid. Just think of it this way: If you want to upload the new skin type there could be a button on the upload page that says "Click if you're uploading new skin type". This way the old and new would work together, and all client/server software could be updated to display both. Problem solved
I fully support this. It would be much better than the current skin system and the new way proposed is still fairly simple.

If you require aid with Custom NPC's give me a shout (In the thread, not PM's). I can read a bit of error reports, know most of the NPC workings (I'm attempting to work on scripting) and have been using it since its 1.0 version. Otherwise I'll help with any questions or problems I can.
Techy, I do like the idea of extra heads, but that would be better suited in a suggestion topic of its own. The forum rules mention trying to keep suggestions from too far reaching. But yeah, having some emote textures would be nice!
Technically the original intent of this suggestion was to make more efficient use of the existing skin textures - with the targeted result of enabling us to texture both arms/legs. However, since the armor and humanoid-mod textures use the same mapping, it makes sense to roll them into this suggestion as well. Presently, the part of this suggestion that utilizes 64x64 textures is only for the benifit of backwards compatibility with the old 64x32 play skins - becuase it's difficult to code a program to recognize different mappings in this case. (I know you know this, I just felt like saying it again).
However, that did make me realize something. Since the armor textures are spread across two 64x32 files, perhaps it would be a good idea to combine them into one 64x64 file. The top 64x32 region would support the armor1 file and the bottom region would support the armor 2 file (both using my suggested mapping to allow texturing ofboth arms and legs). Since this would have no impact on the player skin, it would only require updates to resource packs. Obviously, the leather armor's overlay textures could also be combined the same way.
While this would only be a marginal boost in efficieny (1 file vs. 2) It would be a nice stepping stone for another feature I'm dreaming of.... the ability to upload custom armor textures that would be associated with player accounts just like skins. A custom crafting recipe would basically yield reugular armor - but it would use the custom textures instead. Basically a way to extend skin maker's canvas to the armor textures and still hold armor functionality. ... But as said earlier... that's a other topic on its own.
Come on Jeb.
This a marvelous idea!

Its 4:22AM, you have time to bask in it from my point of view.

Amazing idea! Mojang should add this into the regular game.
Edit: I come from the future and Mojang has implemented it. Life's good!
