Clearing out and filling in large areas can be pretty tedious in creative mode, even if it only takes one click to remove and add a block. So I was thinking what about a few things to help with that, sorry if they're not very clear I can be pretty scatterbrained at times.
"Brush" Size Using "R" and "F" you adjust the size of the area you intend to affect. Starting at 1x1 (normal) and growing by one block in all directions with every tap of "R" until you reach somewhere around a 5x5 square area, even larger if it's not too unwieldy. "F" would of course do the opposite. Something that indicates the current size of the brush would also be helpful so you don't erase your work by accident.
Leveling Tapping one of the keyboard keys (I can't decide on which) puts you into "Leveling" mode. After which when you click on a block your cross hairs are aimed at will highlight said block and as you move away the area between the first block and the block your cross hairs rest on will become highlighted as well (maybe also including a readout that tells you the length of the sides), creating a square from two points and a cube if you up or down in elevation. When you choose a second block to click on the terrain will level between those two points to the height of the second block, using the block you have chosen to fill and replace any blocks in the chosen area if you're increasing the height.
Bedrock Give the player the ability to keep from destroy bedrock if they don't want to, maybe by the stroke of a certain key or something. It'd be nice to just hold down the left mouse button without worrying about punching clear through bedrock and falling into the void, unless of course we actually want to create a pit into the void.
The ideas probably need some polishing as well as some clarification but I thought I'd see what you all think.
Good idea, though maybe the controls could be simpler?
T to expand the area of building by 1 block? Y to decrease?
R to raise the height of the building?
You know, cause it gets sorta annoying having to reach across the keyboard.
And it's confusing...a bit.
Well, I picked R and F because they were next to the directional buttons, at least the ones I use. I dunno if they could be tied into the actual directional buttons or not. It's mostly just a rough idea, all I really want is the ability to level, fill and quickly destroy blocks at a whim in creative. Sometimes it's just so darn tedious.
