I'd like to propose an item, 'gravel bucket.' When you activate it, gravel flows like water from where you place it. When the gravel 'flow' would reach the stopping point, it turns into a block of gravel. This continues until all the blocks back to the starting point are gravel. This would allow you to quickly and efficiently fill in holes in the landscape, although placing it at the top of a mountain could create a LOT of gravel. Just an idea.
Comments note: If you think this is a bad idea, say how you think it could be made better, or what about the idea is unworkable. Otherwise you're just trolling.
It'd probably have to be a set amount of gravel say 10/20 blocks full. Because that would just allow farming of gravel. Which if you don't already know is used for arrowheads as well as lighters.

Perhaps just 20 blocks at a time you use the gravel bucket, so it doesn't get 'out of control' and accidentally create a mountain of gravel.
I don't think 'farming gravel' is an issue, because I've never been 'low' on flint. Lighters take one flint and last a long time, and feathers are far more difficult to obtain for arrows than flint. Anyone with a monster farm for feathers is also getting arrows from skeletons.

The 20 block limit won't really affect farming- as long as gravel can generate another gravel block a piston, torch, and redstone clock will be all you'll need to generate flint indefinitely.

True, but infinite flint is about as valuable as infinite dirt... well even less valuable than dirt. I've never been in a situation in minecraft where I 'needed more flint.' Instead I've always been in situations of "Another stack of flint for the junk chest"

If water doesn't work like that anymore, I doubt Notch will make gravel do it.
