So we've got NPC's and villages and Notch has talked about adding elements (like villages, strongholds w/ bosses) that allow a player to make their own adventure/story.
I would hope that NPC's would serve more use than to just fill out the world, but gather quests .... suck. Interacting with them as merchants would be interesting, but there are mods like iconomy that add a market already.
What I propose are 'Build quests'. example: we've discovered a creeper army heading towards our village. They'll arrive in two days, please build us a wall to protect our village!
Some could even be more like general contracts: build us a park area/more houses/farmland/whatever
Connecting villages with roads and protecting them with walls, rising as ruler! Or something.
Not only would this be an awesome way to procedurally create adventures, it brings in building which plays such a huge role in the game.
Also I envision a mod that's basically everything(ish) you can do in Dwarf Fortress, but in Minecraft!
building stuff for quest's is a very good idea, however i can't think how that will work, i mean, let's say an NPC wants a new house...
ok so i build my design of a house and then return the quest, how will the NPC know that i built a house??, i could even only put a single block on his side and say: "there, gimme the reward", maybe im just being naive but i don't know how that could be implemented
but, like i said, is a very nice idea!! :biggrin.gif:
