How about adding things like broken bones, like if you fall from a certain height and above, you break your legs and you walk slower and cant dash (run). And to fix that you should be able to craft bandages like
with sticks being string
and another thing with broken bones, u should be able to break your arms, like if you punch X amount of something. and the effect of the broken arm would be you will mine things slower etc.
Suggested atleast 2000 times before... Anyways realistic things in video games can ruin the game itself im afraid. You might as well just go and suggest that lava burns your limbs off so you cant use them... And then your handicapped in minecraft.Im sorry but like i said realistic things can be bad for videos games... Because then you have to balance everything out...
Isn't this supposed to be a realistic game though?
Do not add realistic elements to a game if they break gameplay balance.
This would be very difficult to balance; and I fear it would do more harm than good to gameplay.
Imagine this:
Gameplay as normal: Player runs from creeper and jumps off of 5m high cliff and sustains 1 heart of damage and continues to escape as normal allowing the player the satisfaction of a survivable escape.
Gameplay with broken bones: Player runs from creeper and jumps off of 5m high cliff, sustains 1 heart of damage, and sustains a broken leg. The player now moves at decreased speed until he makes a splint to help recover. Now he must try to escape the mobs with reduced speed (good luck with that), make his way back to home and remember how to make a splint. Not everyone has string on-hand, and with decreased mobility, it becomes much harder to fight the spiders to obtain the string.
Also realistically, someone would be shacked up for 5~7 days for the fracture to heal. This means that a player would have to stay put for the same 5 or 7 in-game days as he waits to regain full mobility.
This detracts from gameplay on a tremendous scale and players are now fearful of exploring or taking risks considering the consequence of explosions, falling, or NPC damage which would also realistically break bones.
It also increases the player's desire to commit suicide as opposed to suffering the loss of mobility.
Broken bones would add realism, but this is one of those that I wouldn't want to see, even if it improves realism.
I only agree if it would have to be a near death fall (7.5 hearts of damage after boots applied and before the rest of armor applied) and only your legs.

have you played dwarf fortress? You can be reduced to rolling around with no arms or legs, trying to bite things to death.

You can't make metre cubed pieces of rock get jiggy with each other, that's just WRONG.
Regular MC: Player punches down a tree, and gets hits with a Zombie, of which he kills.
BB MC: Player punches down a tree, and fractures his arm greatly. A zombie sees this as an opportunity, and strikes upon the poor person, now immbolizing them.
Regular MC: The player breaks through some cobblestone with their fists to find, what is it, DIAMOND! He mines it quickly with his iron pickaxe and continues to finish off the other vein.
BB MC: The player breaks through some cobble, and immidiately is struck with a broken hand. He then notes some diamond behind the cobble. He heads towards it, and snaps his arm raising hte pickaxe. He drops it, paralyzing his leg, and is finally Left 4 Dead
Regular MC: omg a creeper
BB MC: A creeper approaches, and sends the person and his face flying across the map in a gory explosion of broken bones, blood, iron.

I hope that was a joke.

Sometimes, you just need a little more cave.
