I absolutely love the swamp biome. My biggest house is in a swamp biome, and I just love the flatness and abundance of trees. However, after a while I cut down 10% of the trees. I replant them as usual, but they look out of place because they are standard trees. They aren't as tall as biome generated swamp trees, don't have vines, so they look unnatural. Maybe swamp trees can have their own saplings? Spawning with vines and stuff. I think its a waste of time to shear vines and place them on trees, its just a waste of effort because you'll cut them down anyway.
I completely agree. They are actually a type of tree so it makes sense for them to have their own sapling, or at least when they grow in a swamp biome they automatically get vines and look like they would as if they were generated.
I dunno, I like the idea of just being able to plant swamp trees wherever.
What about if you planted a regular sapling in a swamp biome, its shade of green would roughly match to that of the swamp's grass and then grow to a tree just like those found in swamps? This way, you don't need a new type of wood or sapling, just a color gradient that applies to tree saplings and leaves just like it does for grass and how it's going to apply for water.
