What I think could be a really fun addition to the game is a monster mode. By this I mean actually playing as a monster!
Once npc villages/villagers have been properly fleshed out it could be fun to spawn a new world in monster mode with a fairly high number of npc villages and spawned npc Steves wandering the world. You would always spawn at night shortly after dusk as a random monster. Your goal would be to run around and wreak havoc on the villagers and would be adventurers of the world while avoiding death as long as you can!

I had some additional ideas concerning the hostile Steves that would be in this mode. For instance they could be geared differently depending on where you find them. The general break down I had in mind was as follows:
- Ground level spawns could show up randomly either without armor or with leather and they would wield wood gear.
- Those spawning in the upper level caves would spawn with random leather and iron armor, and primarily stone gear.
- The ones in the mid range depth caves (approximately elevations 20-40) would have a mix of iron and gold armor, and primarily gold gear.
- Then finally the ones in the deepest areas (starting around 20-25 and lower) would have a mix of gold and diamond armor and primarily diamond gear.
The Steve mobs could have a few types of gear, the ground level ones would be more likely to carry a shovel or an axe, while the underground spawns would mostly carry picks. They would mostly all have swords as well. Until they see you they generally have their shovel/axe/pick equipped, but once they become hostile they switch to their sword.
They should also have some endermen like habits, taking and placing blocks. I would also think they would be more common in the mine shaft areas added in 1.8 when you are exploring underground and maybe generally spawn them near ore deposits just to fit with the miner motif.
For one, there is an "edit" option so you can include all your ideas in a single post, rather than pointlessly bumping a thread.
Secondly, there is currently a mod which does this, called the "You are the Creeper" mod. I've played that mod, and while it is fun... it has a completely different feel from Minecraft. If Mojang is going to implement a new game type they're going to make sure that it fits with the current content; in other words, things won't contradict each other and the basic premise of the game is retained.
For example, take Creative mode. The basic premise of Minecraft at its heart was building; in fact, when the game was in its wee-days of development, there were no mobs to hide from; all you did was run around building stuff. Hence why they added Creative to the official game, because that was what Minecraft had been from the very start.
Now, move on to this Adventure Mode that a lot of people had been hoping for with the Adventure Update. True, the premise of it - exploring on pre-made maps, unable to break blocks, accomplishing set goals - is not entirely Minecraft-y, especially since the player is unable to build or break blocks. However, it does focus on the secondary aspect of Minecraft: exploration/adventuring. While it is not confirmed that an Adventure Mode will be added, it is quite likely considering how Notch has mentioned the possibility and it fits with Minecraft.
Now, I come to your idea. What you suggest is entirely different from the point of the game. Instead of focusing on surviving and building wonderful structures, for which you must learn to defend yourself from monsters that will try to kill you in clever ways, you are proposing a game mode in which the player is simply trying to wreak as much havoc as they can against enemies with very limited abilities. There is no real sense of progression, no "upgrading" of your character (as in, no armor or better weapons), and really no point; you're just mindlessly wandering around looking for people to kill. That isn't the point of Minecraft. So I give a firm thumbs-down to your idea.
Hopefully you understand what I am saying and don't take it personally.

Sounds almost like my post that i made (But my thread is Dead with 20 views) 8 and a half hours ago but as a PVP survival game mode,
Metaphor Time:
Which in my case Adds Another Piece of cake (The cake is not a lie) Now for those of you who despise This type of cakes flavor, We arnt forcing you To eat it And notch isnt going to put it on top of his cake (Original Minecraft) But if he adds this its just another slice of cake you can Take or leave
So in this metaphor it is basically telling you that you have the Option to play it or Dont play it, Its your choice
Anyway It would be another great Feature for the game, I mean most servers Are PVP enabled

I can understand if you aren't into this idea, but I do disagree with your statement that it doesn't fit with the current content. Survival has been around for some time now, and has been the primary focus a lot longer than pure creative has been. A large part of survival is fighting with monsters. Sure a lot of people just see them as a nuisance to be avoided or hassled by, but there are a lot of people who also enjoy exploring the combat side of the game that survival added, myself included. On the whole though combat in Minecraft is still a bit dry and straight forward, even with the recent changes. I just think it could be a fun change of pace now and then to go into a purely fun combat mode to mix things up.
Monster mode would put a new spin on that. Each monster type has a different approach and skill set that can be played on to give a new style of combat to explore. For instance if you are spawned as a zombie, perhaps you are the leader of small zombie horde, so that 2 or 3 additional zombie are spawned with you and they follow you around as long as there isn't something within range to attack, they may be weak and straight forward, but their strength is in numbers. Spiders have speed and climbing which can be fun to have a go with, skeletons come with bows with unlimited ammo. Creepers may be one of the least fun to play, as they only live to die with their prey, so I could see how a mod focused on playing as a creeper would have limited appeal. Plus mods tend to be a bit limited in what they can add, compared to official content.
For instance now that there is experience and scores, it isn't exactly true to say there is no room for player development or achievement as a monster. Perhaps with each kill you gain exp, which could translate into additional health either via direct small restoration or through health capacity improvements, as monsters all have much smaller health pools than a player does. When you die you can be given a score and perhaps a listing of how long you survived. Achievement would be geared around lasting longer and scoring higher.
While common villagers at the moment are simple and weak, that isn't to say they always will be, as we have only seen them in development pre-releases so far. As I said in the first post, this would be something to consider later down the line once villages and villagers are more complete. There is also the consideration of fighting Steve mobs, who would be armed, more skilled, and with a players health pool. Which means harder and longer fights. It could be set up so that the longer you are in a village area, the more attention you draw, causing more Steves to come in out of the wild to aid the villagers. There is also something to be said about monster on monster fighting, you see stuff fighting skeletons all the time because of stray shots missing their mark.
All I am saying, is that once in a while it would be fun to do some role reversal to let off some steam after another creeper wrecked an hour of work. I'd just like to go out and experience the world of Minecraft from the other side once in a while, which is what this mode would be geared towards, a short burst of action to break up the monotony of just building all the time.
