i propose having ore in veins. they would be fairly rare and associated with mountains as most ore deposits are in real life. it would give a use for mountains and would be another adventure them addition. note that they wouldnt be abundant and the ore would have pockets of ore. this would add a reason for digging tunnels to, not just through regular rock.
They already do, they spawn in short chains of ore blocks.
those arent veins those are pockets, im talking about actual veins you can follow through a mountain like the abandoned mines, hey maybe even have them branch off of the mines.

I have no idea what your suggesting. What we have already is small veins.
that is the whole point, there would be more than just coal, iron would be semi common and small amounts of gold to. and pockets are not veins, get your vocab straight.

I just searched, and apparently the internet has it's vocab wrong, because it keeps saying that an ore pocket is...

(mining engineering) Excavation near the hoisting shaft into which ore from stopes is moved, preliminary to hoisting. An unusual concentration of ore in the lode.
Also, if anything, this idea is OP. Ores are supposed to be rare things you find underground, not mother lodes that you find on the side of a mountain.
The reason you see veins in long stripes in real life is because that's generally how the ore is in the world. You won't see tiny little clumps in one small area, like an ore block.

there are pockets in a real vein but they are along the vein itself, pockets dont occur on there own surrounded by country rock, if you think that i have some food for thought, how did those minerals get there if they are surrounded by rock? veins, or fractures go deep into the earth, or at least were once and have since been pushed up, my point is that they are long and some areas widen and turn into pockets or Stopes once they are mined.
dont get me wrong they wouldn't be everywhere and they would be hard to find, they would also only go on for a certain length, maybe 30 blocks.
