Hello everyone, (and Notch, if you read this, which I hope you will)
I read on Minecraftwiki that there was a rumor that maps would become placeable like paintings. I really hope that this will actually be added to the game because it would make it a lot easier to see which map is which (instead of having to try them all out by placing them in your inventory). When placed I think the maps should just be the size of one block, bigger is not needed. With this you could also place the maps on the wall in the position of the areas displayed on the maps to make a bigger map. This all would make it easier to oversee your collection of maps and to store them. So if you read this Notch, please add this to the game!
Here's an idea. Sort of taken from Katamari Damacy, when things from the real world that get on your katamari look brighter, and with more life, the same should be for maps. When you walk with a map, areas you had explored should be more vibrant-looking, giving a subtle, but clear notification to the player that pieces of the land are yet to be explored.
When you complete a map, the edges should fill in, and the black text from before turns white, with an additional (Complete) tacked to the end. Complete map icons would be a brighter color, and a (Complete) in their tooltip (Which would make it a different item, anyway). To make a map you can hang, four complete maps (In no particular order, as long as they're numerically correct) would be put together, making a large map.

That's what I said lol, but maybe I didn't say it very clearly
yes, on minecraftwiki I read that Notch suggested this. This post is just to remind Notch of his idea and persuade him to actually add it too.
...the landscapes together without that wonky chunk-error look.
