I have an Xbox360 and have Total Miner(no I'm not advertising) and in the creative mode they have a flat map generator. Also you can select any block in the game you want it to be made out of. I would love for Minecraft to have something like that for creative. Have three options:
1.Flatland with top layer(block A) with the rest of the layers below it(block B )
2.Flatland with just block A
3.Flatland with regular world generation:(biomes, caves, oceans, rivers, Ect.)
4.Or just pick regular world generation without Flatland.
Flatland can be the size and depth(starting at sea level) of a regular map.
Example of 1.: Block A= Block B=
Example of 2.:
You should also be able to set the height of the layers. You could set, for example, bedrock from 1-1, lava from 2-5, stone from 6-30, dirt from 31-34, and grass at level 35 for extra building height. Upon clicking "Flatland" there would be 6 options at the top half. Each would have 3 things you could chose from, the starting and stopping height and the kind of block. The default would be bedrock from 1-2, lava from 3-5, stone from 6-59, dirt from 60-64, and grass at 65 (but materials could be changed to any block). Below this would be a series of options (with the default as all on), including caves, water, forests, minerals, underground structures (mineshafts and strongholds), villages, deserts, and dungeons.

Yea, that would be better, especially if you know what your building. If your building something really tall, you could have your top layer right on top of the bedrock layer.

I think this is a good idea and it could probably be taken a little further. For example, as well as a flatland generator you could also have biome control. Say if you create a new map, you will have several options for how you want your map to look like (regular, flatland, mountainous, desert, forest, tundra ect.). You could then create a map that looks just how you want it for whatever reason you need :smile.gif:

Thats basically the map generator from SimCity.
Ok, then lets add the generator from SimCity then.
