Hi, this idea may have already been posted but I didn't find it so here it is.
It would consist by giving players the ability to craft special blocks, or even bigger, which are actually miniaturized circuits.
Idea would be that once crafted, you could put it somewhere on the map and then a right clic on it would miniaturize yourself into it and allow you to build a more or less complicated circuit inside it.
Outside it would have specified input and outputs, which count should rise with the object's size, and inside those inputs and outputs would be clearly specified so that it is easier to implement circuitry. A back door allowing player to return in normal world would also be a good idea.
The inside world should just be a more or less big room, with indestructible walls, floor and roof.
It is not magic nor cheat, just miniaturization!
Please give feed back on this idea and improvement/suggestions!
Here is what the inside would look like:
It is an example of 8x8x8 room allowing some circuitry. Green and glowstones walls are just decoration, important elements are inputs, outputs and exit way...
Crafting options should for example always use the same recipe, but depending of the stacked count of each ingredient, the size of the room should increase.
Or, better yet, an infinite room inside each circuit block with a button/door to get back.
For implementation sake 'infinity' is kind of not acceptable.
But saving an extra chunk or two inside the circuit's properties seems totally doable, and to avoid abuses, adding some restrictions like a filter on the objects and blocks you can place on the circuit, e.g only redstones, dirt, levers...
In minecraft, which is primarily a survival game (Do not even try to argue this fact), huge redstone circuits suit no purpose.
It is a survival game, but also a construction game, and the first idea which comes out from this combination is building traps in order to survive, and mechanisms to protect oneself.
The whole funny part of redstone is its adaptability to player's needs, and its only BIG disadvantage is the room it takes.
So surviving by digging a hole and don't move anymore is one thing, and survive being surrounded by thousands automatic defense systems is an other. I like the second way to play Minecraft in survival mode.

Trying to argue this, succeeding. Surviving in minecraft is easy. Building awesome stuff WHILE surviving is the name of the game, and this definately helps in the building of awesome stuff.

EDIT:
A thread already discusses this: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/19040-circuit-chests/page__hl__miniturized

I do like the idea, but I think it should be very low priority.
wow.
