This thread is a compilation of all my suggestions, along with what gave me the basic idea, and other stuff. I decided to do this, because this way everytime i add a new suggestion, the thread will be shown again and people will see all my ideas again. Also, be sure to read the outro section when your done with all of this.
3 - News (Updates)
Updates will be pointed out in this section. In other words, you will see what was added, removed, or updated in the entire thread.
I made a thread about this idea, before i made this thread. So it may look familiar to some people.
I think backpacks would be a great addition. Basically, i think it should work like this:
You would put it in your chest armor slot, and you would get another row of items. So you would have 4 rows. Not to much extra. but enough.
The backpack is an armor, though. So it can break. If it breaks, half of your inventory. and the the wool you used to make the backpack is scattered everywhere. But not the chest. These are the ways it can break:
Jumping - 10% condition drop
Sprinting - 25% condition drop
Being attacked - Depends on the power of the mob
Sprint Jumping - 50% condition drop
Falling in water - 75% condition drop
Falling In lava - 100% condition drop
If you die, though, all of your items scatter everywhere, like normal. And your armor doesnt break when you die, it just gets scattered with your items. So the booksack just gets scattered along with it all.
The reason you might want a booksack, is because of this: Since the adventure update is in process right now, people are going on explorations to find strongholds, and villages, and other stuff. Well, your wandering along, and, OH NO! Its getting dark. You need the inventory space to have the supplies to make a quick little camp for the night, and have all of your treasures with you. And depending on if your returning from your expedition or still exploring, space to store your treasures.
The recipe:
The flower represents leather.
Teloporters
Ok, so, there isnt a use for Ender Pearls (At the time im posting this - 9/25/11 - 1.8.1) and i think it should have to do with the mob itself. Chickens drop feathers, because its logical. Creepers drop gunpowder, cuz they explode. See? So i think that maybe ender pearls could be used for teloportation.
You would start by killing the enderman and collecting the pearls. Then, you would craft it, like this:
The fire represents the pearl.
You place it on the ground, anywhere you want. If there is only one on the map, it doesnt do anything. But if there is more then one on the map, when you right click it you will teloport to the next one in the order you placed it.
This could be useful for going from your house to your mine. And vice versa. Or anything else. Who knows? I think it would be very interesting.

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this! Please, if you like the ideas, simply leave a comment to show what you think (And also make it shown by others) and give me a +1. Also, if you have any basic concepts that you want me to spruce up a bit, let me know and you will receive credit in the credit section below. Im not super great at coming up with ideas from scratch, but you give me a basic concept and i can make it pretty good :smile.gif: Also, if you can make a mod for any of these suggestions: Message me. Because id love to see all these imported into the game.

All of that aside, it's still overpowered. The only possible way a backpack could be balanced is if it could only hold "small" items like food and sticks, would take up the chest armor section (sacrifice armor for carrying capacity), and if it could only hold a few stacks of items (like no more than 6).
If I helped in any way, don't click that little green +, instead tell me how much you liked the post. (Only those who are incapable of earning rep the hard way have to beg for it in their signatures).

Oh your probably right about the completely invent thing. Thats my bad. What i meant when i put it is i didnt take the idea from anyone, or anyone didnt give it to me. I didnt see a thread and go look and say "Oh! Im gonna take this as mine!" No. I meant that i thought of it by myself. But your right, im sure its been mentioned before.
But that aside, i like my idea. You do make a good point, but im sticking with mine. If i get a few more posts about it being overpowered ill go ahead and switch it around a bit. Because you do have a point.
EDIT: I went ahead and cleared that up in the credits.
I see backpacks as this.
They take up your chest armor slot. You can store anything in there, but the backpack only has 4 storage squares. Once you die, the backpack is treated as a normal item, but it will still carry the items until picked up.
Also, I think for crafting the chest with the wool around it will be the pack itself. For the straps, have them like this:
X X
The two X's would be the buckles. (Leather, Iron, Gold, Diamond.)This would increase the durability of the backpack.
Then you put the pack in the middle, and the two straps on the side. Shazam.

I thought of that whole wood, iron, stone, diamond thing.. but it didnt seem to make sense for a booksack, you know? Im trying to be logical here.

MY BACKPACK IS MADE OF DIAMONDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I don't really agree with the whole tiered-backpack thing either. A much simpler recipe (just arbitrary, to get people thinking):

If you notice at the start of the backpack entry, it said i made a post about it before adding it. Well, that leather thing was my original idea, but i thought to add ina bit more creativity. I mean, colored wool is kinda pointless, so this is just a way to give it something else besides more colors.

I used leather because leather is tougher than wool, it makes more sense for a "rugged outdoorsman" to use.

I call ******** on that. Hundreds of backpack threads have been made before, you didn't "invent" the idea, you just gave it a few different stats.
Just a few of the older backpack threads I am talking about:
